is it just me or did they sort of ignore the fact that the spirits were kind of huge dicks for kicking the humans out of where they originally lived

I think it's supposed to be connected to how mankind treated nature, but there's probably a long history of man did this and spirit did that and now no one remembers who started it.

Huh. Korra's finally starting to be a bit likable again.

poor Desna. I actually don't dislike the twins. Hell, I actually felt kind of bad for Eska when Bolin ditched her. Yes, she's got warped ideas of attachment, and is kind of unstable, but she seems to genuinely like Bolin, otherwise she wouldn't be willing to add him to the royal family (since you know that Eska and Desna would co-rule, causing issues once the next generation wanted to lay claim to the throne).
I betcha Eska takes Desna to Katara and then a whole bunch of stuff happens. And Katara's just like "Yeah, I'll definitely fix him up for you, and in return, stop your father from beating the shit out of my town, kthx"

Agreed; I can't wait to see where this goes. Anxiously awaiting Wan Shi Tong's return. Still rustled off about what they did to Lin.

I still really love Tenzin's character arc. He's believably upset at times but doesn't stay offended about it to the point of being a dick, but neither does he simply brush it off.

Tenzin is definitely one of the best-written characters in the show. Just about all the stuff with him and his family is terrific.

I just had one thing I didn't really like. Suddenly Lin is interested in the bombings? Suddenly she's interested in following leads? She didn't give two shits about a lead one of her employees had in the case, but when a proven criminal, who's willing to lie and cheat to get what he wants, gives her a lead, she's all "Ohhhh gotta follow this one I feel REAL good about this one!"? That makes no sense. Had she given more shits in the beginning, which is something she should have done, Mako wouldn't have needed to hire a group of gangsters to try and investigate a police matter.
"We have to follow up on the lead."
WHERE WAS THAT ATTITUDE WHEN MAKO WAS THROWING YOU LEADS LEFT AND RIGHT?

Didn't you hear? When Korra healed Lin, she sucked out 99% of Lin's gray matter as payment. That's why Lin is a dunce this season.

She does have to follow police procedure. I wonder how well her lie detecting ability works compared to her mother. A lot of people gave Korra flak for not acting like a "proper" Avatar. Should Lin act like an improper cop?

How does a proper Avatar act, exactly?

Re: The Legend of Korra, because it deserves its own thread
Does following proper procedure include taking the word of a known criminal over that of your own trustworthy subordinate who HELPED SAVE YOUR booty (not to mention the rest of the city and possibly the world) NOT TOO LONG AGO?! Lin was one of the best-written characters in the first season, but now she is so, so stupid. And if we're worried about her following police procedure too closely, remember the part in season one where she decides to continue her duties to the city "outside the law?"Omnithea wrote:She does have to follow police procedure. Re: The Legend of Korra, because it deserves its own thread
Also, if you guys remember, Lin has constantly been busy in meetings lately. She told Mako to give everything he had worked out to Lu and Gong (or whatever their names were). They don't seem to like Mako, so who's to say that THEY didn't fuck up somewhere?
Re: The Legend of Korra, because it deserves its own thread
To be fair, everyone knows that ONE guy, maybe two, who you wouldn't trust with a task of just standing there doing nothing, because they'd fuck even that up. Those two gave both Mako, and Lin every reason to think that they wouldn't do jack shit with any information pertaining to the case. They'd continue to think it was the triads until the other guy was caught red handed, and then do that "Der, we had no idea!" thing.
And seriously, even if she was caught in meetings, suddenly she's not? Suddenly she has an interest? She's telling Mako to trust the wonder twins with all of the evidence/leads, but then the first chance she gets, she micromanages the hell out of the two guys anyway. Why wasn't her first thought after getting done with the political shenanigans to bring all three of them in and ask "Alright ladies, what do you have?"

Re: The Legend of Korra, because it deserves its own thread
For the record, Mako is a known criminal. Lin isn't doing the right thing anymore than Korra was doing the right thing, but they don't have the luxury of seeing everything from our point of view. They did the best they could with the information they had.
What pisses me off about Tenzin was how he contributed to the temporary split in their mentor relationship. If he believed, like Korra's dad believed, that she needed a normal childhood sheltered from the outside world, they should have told her. Instead they lied for some decade and a half and were surprised when it destroyed her trust in them.
