Re: Horrors of Employment
I haven't gotten a job yet due to being 18 and in High School and not having any work experience, but a lot of this makes me want to get a service industry job just for the opportunity to put these assholes in their place, "Customer is always right" be damned.

Yeah you can't really do that unless your boss says its ok
I have nothing else to add to this thread :[ I need another job desperately so I can complain about it

Re: Horrors of Employment
My current job at Wendys is ok. When I worked at Dairy Queen was when I screwed up everything.
At DQ my list of responsibilities basically boiled down to: Everything you can, except management.
I was given the grill position, which meant I made the cooked food. Unfortunately I could never remember the right code for the foods when placed in the microwave. it took me a while to finally memorize the differences in fried/grilled chickens. Then if I had free time I could do the dishes. Or if I wasn't doing that I would help them make the ice cream treats. Then they got me try and work register.
Basically I have horrible memory and never got anything done in a timely order. No wonder I was fired after two weeks.

Can you say customer complaint => Write up => fired with a bad referenceSol Reaper wrote:I haven't gotten a job yet due to being 18 and in High School and not having any work experience, but a lot of this makes me want to get a service industry job just for the opportunity to put these assholes in their place, "Customer is always right" be damned.

I actually got a customer complaint not too long ago. Manager threw it away though, he complained twice about me and the cameras showed I didn't do anything. Plus he has an obsession with the female employees and even bragged that he was the one complaining. I guess he thinks they don't like me there or something? Oh well, he doesn't show up much anymore.

Re: Horrors of Employment
Yeah, I once had some lady make a bullshit complaint about me. Except it was that not only was I rude, I just ditched her at a checkstand when she had all of her stuff on the counter, which is pretty much the worst thing you can possibly do as a checker, save for murdering their spouse in front of them.
But the managers came to the conclusion that she's just not quite right, considering that she walked away of her own accord three minutes before I left, and she was muttering something to herself. I didn't even mention her leaving (although she did that rude thing where she just barges into the line even after it is very blatantly closed).

Re: Horrors of Employment
Throwing newspapers has made me hate rainstorms.
This morning, the hourly forecast showed that the heaviest rain was supposed to start when I would be about finished. Oh, it's a race you want? CHALLENGE ACCEPTED, I thought. Then it started pouring ten minutes after I started.
