BLOOD BOWL

What the shit is this?

Blood Bowl is one of those weird table top warhammer games where you paint the little guys and roll dice. It's American football where you kill each other. They made a video game of it, and it's about as awesome as it sounds. It's a turn based strategy game, but not something like Civilizations or Age of Wonders where you need to play for five days straight. It's a quick and dirty punch in the dick, with each match going maybe half an hour or so. You pick a race, build up a team, and progress in tournaments. Your guys get experience and level up (warband style, if you were one of the huge losers who played with little painted men), and you can pick more skills for them. The gameplay is tight, and very well balanced. It's on steam, and it's totally rad.

SO YEAH

Have a trailer and a review.

I dunno, doesn't seem like something I'd get into.

To me, it seems like the most accurate translation of warhammer into a video game yet. I usually hate sports games, but this scratches all the right itches. The gameplay feels less like FIFA and more like capture the flag. It's deceptively simple in its strategy, and the progression based style is pretty addictive. I picked it up on a whim, and I'm very glad I did.

Handles well, control scheme is fine. I never had any issues with it.

Hahahahahah.

Dude sounds like a bit of a tool. Okay, the console version might suck, but is that a reason for him to dislike the pc version too? And how is being slow a negative? That's the point of turn based games - time to think. And he says it's not a whole lot like football? Wow, no shit. What a visionary. And no tutuorial is... not really a bad thing. The rules aren't hard to figure out. Games don't need tutorials. I don't know why the industry has shifted that way, but it's weird. You can just design the game mechanics to be natural and intuitive, instead of being lazy and just saying THIS IS HOW YOU DO SHIT.

I think that guy in the trailer doesn't actually write the reviews, he just voices them. And it was just the first one I could find.
