well piss. Although I'm looking at some of the stuff in it. It's either been heavily edited, or it doesn't have quite as much internet-crippling power as people were afraid of.

The thing though, is that it has internet-crippling potential, if it is used in that way, because it is written so horribly. And it very well may be, we don't know. Better for it to not be passed at all in that case. Also, it supports internet censorship, which I can't in any good mind, support.

Watching the SOPA debate. Can someone catch me up a little bit, anything interesting I might've missed?

My problem is that I just don't know what I can do to make a difference with the SOPA bill. Do I e-mail my congressman or should I just hope for the best? I feel powerless.

The thing that sucks is that the United states will essentially be shooting its economy in the foot. Internet commerce contibutes a lot to both national and international economies. Censoring the Internet like this will only make the recession even worse.

More stuff about Univeral Music Group and the takedown of the Megaupload music video:
http://torrentfreak.com/megaupload-yout ... wn-111216/
http://torrentfreak.com/megaupload-vide ... -us-111216

Here's a quote that's particularly shocking:
“The UMG-YouTube agreement grants UMG rights to effect the removal of user-posted videos through YouTube’s Content Management System (‘CMS’), based on a number of contractually specified criteria that are not limited to the infringements of copyrights owned or controlled by UMG,” the record label states in its filing.
So Universal Music Group can take down ANY video on YouTube, ALL of them. For NO reason. And they SHOULDN'T have that right. It's completely fucked up. It makes me sick.

It hasn't even passed Senate yet. People really need to learn how the government system in the United States works.

Goddamnit, I hope UMG get's what's coming to them.

The shit they pull will also make it harder for smaller copyright claims (who are usually hurt much more by it) to be taken seriously.
