NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Alright, well, for the sake of discussion, at least explain why. I don't see the appeal at all.

It's something different with the Zelda franchise, and not in a cheap cheddar grab kind of way. It's also an opportunity to play as someone other than Link. I mean hell, Zelda could show her magic in a place other than Smash Bros, or Ganondorf could take to the field, or even Navi if they feel like putting in "joke" characters.Sleauxbreaux wrote:NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Re: The Legend of Zelda
I'm kinda indifferent to it. Honestly, it just looks like it'll be kinda fun. I'm not expecting anything substantial from it; just a few hours of fast-paced over-the-top action. I've never played Dynasty Warriors (or anything from Koei for that matter) before, but I don't see any real reason to hate it. It hasn't come out yet, and I think we should at least give it a chance. I mean, it's just a spinoff. With Zelda games, I care more about the writing than the gameplay (for the most part), but Hyrule Warriors isn't a main series game, so I really don't care about its writing quality. It'd be like expecting Link's Crossbow Training to have as good a story as Twilight Princess.
And honestly, after games like Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem, Cockfighting Society Conquest, and Metroid Prime Pinball, I'm just looking forward to seeing whatever wacky crossover they come up with next.
So how come you hate the game so much?

Personally Im going to wait till the game is out to judge it.
It looks pretty meh to me, but thats what I said about Twilight Princess until I played it and got to throw a goblin king off a bridge repeatedly. XD

WHERE IS THIS MERLIN I KEEP HEARING OF
What harm could come from imprisoning a hellinternet beast every night and making it hate humanity and what it stands for?
Then we can release it back into the wild.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
Alright, I shouldn't say I HATE it. I never enjoyed Dynasty Warriors, for starters, but my main beef with Hyrule Warriors is, firstly, I hate that they're changing the formula of a franchise that has worked SO BEAUTIFULLY for so long. And it's not a "scared of change" thing. Its more that it just feels cheapened, especially since it's the amalgamation of something I follow religiously and something I couldn't care less about. /opinionSir Real wrote:So how come you hate the game so much?
Secondly, (and more importantly) this, to me, means that an ACTUAL Zelda game for the Wii U is just going to be that much further off. I want something EPIC and BEAUTIFUL, not some cheap hack'n'slash that's (opinion) practically a full on mockery of a franchise I love (/opinion), and if this thing I gonna make me wait that much longer, I DON'T LIKE IT, DAMMIT.

Also Breaux mang it's a spin-off they're mixin in up. I think someone already mentioned Crossbow Training, but that's in the same vein. I see it as like how people freaked the fuck out about Metal Gear Rising for being too different from the main series, or even people bitching and moaning about Metroid Prime when that came out for being too different. First hand opinions are key with this stuff. Try it, THEN hate it.
Or, y'know, whatever.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
I think Zelda is the series in need of more crossovers, and this is how they should do it.
I think a turn-based Zelda would be interesting, too

Re: The Legend of Zelda
They're not changing it though, they're doing a spin-off like Vax said. But it is true that this will most likely delay a hypothetical next main Zelda game, it is impossible to say by how much without knowing the inner company structure. They could have hired a lot of new personnel to work on this spin-off while letting another smaller team work on the new main game for the time being. On top of that, trying something new is a good experience for any development studio and they could learn something from it that they can apply to the main game. You're not obligated to like this spin-off of course, I'm personally hesitant about it until I've seen more in-depth gameplay and have been able to get my hands on it myself.SleauxBreaux wrote:I hate that they're changing the formula of a franchise that has worked SO BEAUTIFULLY for so long
Re: The Legend of Zelda
Pokemon Conquest was developed entirely by Koei so I doubt this will affect Zelda U at all
It's not technically impressive and it isn't stylish either
The ground texture is gross looking and there's no harmony between the colours, ugly cutouts on the ground and those trees that wouldn't be out of place in a 10 year old game
There's no cohesion between the drab environments and Skyward Sword's colourful enemies, plus there's what appears to be a remodelled king dodongo straight out of OoT
A lot of the stuff is probably place holder and the game will never wow because it needs to keep things simple to handle all the enemies but currently it's ugly as sin
Link's sweet scarf is the saving grace
why it looks bad in every conceivable wayMadican wrote:But I kind of like how Hyrule Warriors looks.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
Yeah, alright, true. And I completely forgot about Link's Crossbow Training, so I guess this isn't a hugely new thing.spinoff
It's not the game I hate, it's the likely delay in an actual story game that Hyrule Warriors signifies that I hate. But if what princess brothel says is true, I'll be a lot more okay with it.Vax wrote:Sexy things.Sir Real wrote: care more about the writing than the gameplay (for the most part)

A beta is actually a stage that's very close to completion, so you're saying HW is almost finished?TerraChimaera wrote:There's a fancy thing in games

It's far off and I acknowledged that, it's why liking how it looks is pretty absurd

Re: The Legend of Zelda
I'm actually glad they're releasing Hyrule Warriors this year instead of a new main series title. Eiji Aonuma said that he's drawing inspiration from Skyrim for Zelda U, so I think they should give themselves plenty of time to develop the next main-series game, especially since it's supposed to be so humongous. A delayed game can eventually be good; a bad game is bad forever. I'm perfectly willing to wait a few years for The Zelder Scrolls.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
"Like how it looks" can be used as a sort of slang that applies to the whole of something, not just the appearance. In my case, I used it because I liked how the gameplay looked.
