zink, there are many theories on the darker significance of the earthbound story. obviously the characters are bland, but it's supposed to make yourself involved, like zelda or something like that where link doesn't do any talking. also, the blandness is excusable for the extreme depth and complexity of giygas himself. the story is actually incredibly dark, but it's not comparable to mother 3, mother 3 is a lot more, how do you say it, personal or real.
also, how about everyone ignore indigo.
