And for anyone who is afraid of the world being destroyed, the chances are astronomically low; it's just a ploy of the media to get public interest. That and if it were to happen, then we probably wouldn't know what his us.
It doesn't even matter if it's astronomically low, the possibility of a black-hole emerging and destroying Earth, causing billions of lives to be lost, is too great a price for just an experiment.

Even if micro black holes were produced, they would decay very quickly because they would lose mass faster than they could gain it. Even if they didn't dissipate, they would be too stable to cause any real damage.
And as for strangelets, they're only theoretical. No one even knows if they really exist. Even if they could be produced, they would instantly melt. It would be like making an ice cube in a furnace. It just doesn't work.
