You, err, you sorta completely missed my point there.

Point is that the other types of guns in CoD4 are so very impractical in comparison to the super-accurate super-strong ones that there's hardly a point in even using them if you actually want to try play well.
Actually, both of those UBER weapons you describe are easily countered for me. Whatever weapon I have doesn't usually matter. It's whoever has the better internet connection.
