Family Day

Post by Unbalanced »

Yes, it's an actual holiday up here in Canada-land. And according to Wikipedia, a few other places do too, although we're the only ones to celebrate it on the third Monday in February.
Wikipedia wrote:Family Day is the name of a public holiday in South Africa, in the Canadian provinces of Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan, in the United States state of Arizona, in Vanuatu, and (as "Family & Community Day") in the Australian Capital Territory.
It's on the 16th this year (along with a day off school), and this is actually only Ontario's second year of it. Does anybody else live where Family Day is celebrated?

What the hell? 19 years of living in Ontario and I've never heard of this.

Though, doesn't really matter, as every saturday anyone who is cool in my family goes to my grandmother's house, unless you have a legit reason for not going.

Sounds lame.

Well, whatever. Canadians are silly. :awesome: But imagine how horrible this day would be for the old people with no living family left. Good god, this is probably the cause of a lot of old person suicides. Just because the holiday has the word "family" in it.

...

Another :awesome:

I heard once that suicides are most frequent during the Christmas season.

I also heard you're more likely to commit suicide if you listen to country music.

Heh, the ATC, Canberra is a hole.

No seriously, it's entirely man-made.

Suicide by country music is because those songs are depressing as hell!

I heard somewhere that suicide is the second magor cause of death in Canadaland. Where was that?

A little depressing, but not that bad.

The most suicides taken in one day is during RUCKY day.
People sure know how to take the fun out of everything.
