As opposed to ones that throw themselves at you?
Because those are worse

I prefer random battles to when you can see the enemies standing around in the world.

Anytime you are forced to play as the Micaiah Squad in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. The river crossing chapter in Part 3 in particular.

Same here for the earlier comments- sewers before the Warrens in Bloodlines. Also Ground Zero during the Snuff Is Enough, and 609 Kings Way. Mostly because jumpscares, and the Szlachta not being affected by Obfuscate. It also used to be the Ocean House Hotel, but I don't have much of a problem with it now.
I'd also say the Abysmal Storm in Thief 3 because that's as far as I got. I refused to go o unless I had more flashbombs.
The Cradle is just a big no-no.

World 10 in Super Monkey Ball 2's story, christ those are ridiculous.

Oh and in AC3 it feels so much more difficult to navigate through restricted areas than in AC2 and AC:B

Whenever I end up at a dead end in FTL and it's apparent I have to go through the Rebel fleet, I just stop.

The No Permits, No Parley level of The Warriors. BLARGH. Curbstomping the Orphans is fun, but the bit where you have to hide from the cops is a nightmare

If you have the ability to cuff people, you can cuff the cops and leave them there. The game can't spawn any new cops until the current ones get knocked out, so it makes searching for your Warriors a bit easier.

So, all of Persona 3's fighting then? Sounds right.
