I loved Apples to the Core. Better than Raise This Barn imo, and going by the animatic (with all the jumping around and stuff) and some of the animation during the songs in EQG (still don't like the movie but the animation during songs at points was fluid as fuck), that scene can end up being really really good.
See this comic? (Also available on comixology but the synopsis is wrong) It is the single best thing, imo, to come out for this franchise. It's just great. Hilarious and entertaining the whole way through. No character overstays their welcome and there are enough little details to keep you entertained for a while. I highly, highly recommend you read this.

The Big Mac story is pretty great, I like that his internal monologue is anything but monosyllabic, also Luna is great - 'BLAME MY SISTER' indeed.
I didn't know his name was actually spelled 'Big McIntosh' though - that seems kind of awkward.
If I don't make it back alive, give me a proper Viking funeral.
Edit: It.....didn't kill me. I agree that the romance was completely forced, and the ending left me confused and face-palming, but it wasn't that bad. Most of the songs weren't very good though.
Edit edit: Eyeliner McFlutterHuman was a grade A top quality Q-T-Pie. Also my favorite cameo was Rarity's glasses.

Considering that at the beginning of the movie it's established that Twilight can't use magic in that universe. Therefore, we can assume that magic simply doesn't exist there.
Yet at the end magic is used
Although, there is the matter of the portal implying that magic does work, and in the past it's been shown that unicorns can only perform magic as long as they have their horns or their horns aren't being impaired by something. That could explain why Twilight can't perform magic, since she's a human there.
I found the only entertaining parts about it to be some jokes here and there (mostly Twilight adjusting to being human). Other than that, it was boring, dumb and pander-y as fuck. "Look heretics! It's that one horse you like! And she's eating a muffin! WE'RE ACKNOWLEDGING YOU!" The songs are all generic too. Hilariously generic. Like, what was that one song. This is Our Night or something? I laughed when that started to play. It's the same reaction I had to whatever Twilight's moping song is called during the S3 finale. Actually, the most entertainment I got out of it was when Sunset Shimmer turned into a fucking demon. I mean what the actual fuck? With this and season 3, Meghan's run as head writer is not looking good so far. Part of it might be due to the loss of Rob Renzetti as story editor at the end of season 2.
