Re: Books and shit
Has anyone else here heard of/read any of these three books:
Haydn of Mars
Sebastian of Mars
Queen of Mars
because it's a really neat, albeit short little trilogy that was very fun to read. I found the last one years ago in an airport bookstore and loved it, found out there were two prequels, and only just managed to get them and read them a couple months ago.

Catcher in the Rye is about a whiny hypocritical bitch who learns nothing throughout the story, does nothing throughout the story, nobody around him does anything throughout the story, and the story itself does nothing.Prof. Winchester wrote:A while ago I started reading The Catcher in the Rye and although I'm really only about three chapters in, I feel like nothing has happened so far. Am I just judging it too soon? If the rest of the book is going to be much of the same, I'm not sure if I'll continue with it. I want to though since it's a classic (and I like the writing style), but at the same time I don't want to read a book I don't enjoy if I don't have to.
No, you're not judging it too soon. The entire book is exactly the same.
The only reason it's regarded as a classic is because at the time it was a bit risqué.
The story itself is as shallow and bland as a puddle of sepia colored paint in a sepia colored room with no windows and one light.

Now I'm glad I didn't get too far into it. Thanks man.

Yes, it sounds very clever to talk about how awful a book you haven't read is.Clyve wrote:Can I borrow this metaphor so I can fend off the assholes who ask me why I haven't read this?
