This is gonna be fun to watch...no not the show, the fans

I guess it's just left to interpretation here, but you have to agree that the new Knux is going to cause a lot of problems with the err...

more devoted fanbase.

If by that you mean that theyre going to burn the producers in the street, then yes. The Sonic fanbase is the touchiest, most obstinate one Ive ever seen, including the Harry Potter and Twilight fandoms

Seriously, Knux, GET BACK TO THAT EMERALD.

Post by Liraxus »

I wouldn't call the Sonic Fandom that dreadful, just the 10-13 year old fanbase, the more mature fans are actually pretty good fellows.

Well, I heard that the writer for this is an ex-MLP writer, lets see how this goes I say.

The Tomorrow People seems like it'll be good. The psychic powers remind me of Indigo Prophecy, which makes me wonder if there are going to be midair slap-fights.

It already has an AI in it, too.

The second season of Arrow is off to an excellent start. Already I'm interested to see how Ollie adapts to post-supervillain-earthquake Starling City.

Also, some stuff about Agents of SHIELD: I was reading /co/ and they brought up an interesting point:
/co/ wrote:This is the biggest issue of SHIELD, when they start bringing b or c listers with actual powers they are going to make them fodder for Joss fanfic characters.
Heck if Ultron wasn't the big baddie of Avengers 2, you bet your fucking booty that Skie would totally own him with her haxxor l33t skills.
Thoughts about this? Arrow has avoided this thanks to using mostly hand-to-hand fighters, mercs, and gadget users as villains but SHIELD has to have superpowered elements right off the bat.

Its kinda true from what Ive seen so far. Granted, Coulson is already an original character thats become wildly popular and accepted into the main canon, and he's okay, but Im not impressed by the rest of the cast, ESPECIALLY Skye. But its way too early to make any real judgements.

The A in this case stands for Armageddon. As in, Armageddon a boner because this plane has a fucking HOWITZER sticking out of it.

Yeah. Later on when the series gets to the actual superpowered villains, the real test of quality begins.

Okay, I've given Agents of SHIELD a fair shot and I can't watch it anymore.

I can't bring myself to care about any of the characters aside from Coulson, May and Ward. If it had been just those three, and not the British Science Duo and Quirky Hacker Girl, I could stomach it. I want to see AGENTS, not Joss Whedon archetypes. It just feels like NCIS wearing the skin of The Avengers trying to pass itself off booty something normal.

I think Arrow's come along so well because it's not tied to a movie franchise; it can do its own thing with established DC characters, like how they're going to introduce The Flash in this season. They don't have to worry about "Oh, this hero can't be in this show because we want to make a movie about him, so forget about making the show more interesting."

In short, Arrow has earned its success and critical acclaim while SHIELD is coasting off of The Avengers while failing to deliver in quality, both as a spin-off to such an awesome movie and as a TV show in general.

I didnt like Arrow. Look, either use the villains as they actually are, or dont use them at all. Good god, that version of Vertigo really rustled me off

Comic books have different interpretations of villains and other characters in in regards to their looks, personality etc. depending on the story, so I don't see why a TV show doing the same thing is necessarily bad. For example, look at all the depictions of Joker and all the media he's been in. Him being the same in everything would get really old over time. I do agree about their version of Count Vertigo not being that good, but setting Oliver up against a count from a foreign country in the first season seems rather ridiculous. What they did was they took Count Vertigo and made him into a character appropriate for the setting; a powerful drug dealer doing damage to the city that Oliver has sworn to protect. And I don't even think that setting up against a count for my foreign country in a later on season would be a good idea either. The whole premise of this series is that Oliver wants save and protect his city, and has been doing so on a very localized level by taking out and busting street-level crime lords and crooked white-collar types.

Yeah, but then its not the same character. Its not like, say, Batman TAS where they had a version of Vertigo who was an international assassin working for the League Of Shadows rather than the foreign noble, but it was still clearly him. In Arrow they basically made a generic drug dealer and pasted Vertigos name on him. Hell, they could still have had him be the traditional Vertigo, just with a drug trade plot. But nope, no powers, none of his personality, it is bodaciously not the same character. What, did they think it was too "unrealistic"? It just bad characterization. The gritty urban feel is pretty okay, but they had that in the comics without ditching all the superhero stuff

It may not have been a good version of the character, but they've made up for that with other characters. Deathstroke is a badass in many, many forms of combat (but is also a good guy this time around, as a part of the Australian Secret Intelligence Service), Deadshot is an assassin who is an expert marksman, and China White is the leader of a drug cartel. In an upcoming episode, Barry Allen is appearing as a forensic scientist from Central City PD.

And while Arrow has that freedom to introduce comic characters here or there, Agents of SHIELD is probably going to have very few comic villains appear in their show first. They've used Extremis twice, and I don't even think they've set up a proper source for where the stuff is coming from yet. The only comic book villain that's appeared in the show first is Graviton, who (within the show ) is an unpowered scientist who wound up encased in a floating mass of Gravitonium (really clever there, guys) that is locked inside of a SHIELD vault, to be seen fully powered and angry in... idunno, maybe next season, or the one after that?

All the show is right now is a reminder that they're making cool superhero movies that I wanna see and it'll stay that way until they start introducing and actually using villains from the comic book there first.
