What makes you think that the internet, or the people on it, were contributing factors? Someone may have suggested that Chris become more feminine, but it was his own warped mind that interpreted it as "invent the phrase 'tomgirl' and start crossdressing".

I wish TVTropes would quit killing sections like Troper's Tales... Everytime they cut the cesspools of the site away, the people just shoehorn the other sections to fit those needs. No one in the know about TVTropes ever went to Troper's Tales because they knew how bad it was, so why not just leave it there to fester instead of stirring it up and getting their bullshit in the main pages? If people don't know better, they soon learn pretty quickly that those pages are to be avoided. Take the training wheels off, the internet is about experience.

It's like their dumbass idea to make TVTropes absolutely PG-13... Wonder how that's working.
