Kanaya is lesbian for Vriska, who hate-loves Tavros.

Trolls can hate-love because that's how they roll, like Aradia and Equius.

I was more confused about the whole, 4-part troll romance. So crazy.



But, re: romance. I view it, at least with Kanaya, to show kids growing up. Hussie can't really do it with the kids cause, aren't they all from the same gelatinous goo, or something? So the troll kids are kinda going through the romance part as part of growing up.

Hussie said something on the forum about if Rose was awake while John was in her house there might have been a romantic thing going on or something.

I thought the 4 segment thing was easy enough to understand. Top is positive romance, bottom is negative romance. Left is romance with the intention of procreation (i.e., love), right is platonic friendship.

Rose and Dave are a combination of Rose's Mom and Dave's Bro

John and Jade are a combination of John's Grandma and Jade's Grandfather.

Hivebent was fine until WHELP EVERYONE IS IN LOVE WITH EVERYONE NOW. It just feels like Hussie is driving away everyone but hardcore fans and shippers.

And all this romance just seems forced. I mean, the story could easily be just as good without it.

Who else but the hardcore fans could read through 4000+ pages of Pesterchum notes and stalled progression?


Romance is an element of storytelling Hussie hasn't utilized until now. I mean, yes technically he can pair up John x Jade or something but it would be strained since the kids don't interact face to face that often. Maybe it's because I'm a writer-fag and love romance stories but these different interactions of the trolls through there more elaborate system of affection gives the story more meat and thus makes it more interesting. I don't think you could even have a story that has 12 different people and not include even a hint of romance.
