Probably because I can't remember a single time you didn't hate something in this thread.

I mentioned a while ago that I wished to see more films like Memento. Obviously I like Memento.

I liked Ladri di Biciclette. I guess somehow I didn't mention it.

And if that's not enough for you, I liked Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain, The Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, but everybody likes those movies.

All superheroes are lame.
Well, keep in mind that the first Spider-Man was in production when 9/11 happened. The first one was such a huge success partly because America needed a sense of escapism, as well as a symbol that we could all get behind.

So, yeah, they are patriotic. That's kind of the point.

No, but he's the embodiment of the "American dream/spirit".

He's an everyday, normal kid who is suddenly given a great gift that he uses to help others.

Superheros are really an American creation for the most part so they tend to reflect typical baseball and apple pie values.

This I don't get though. How come all superheroes are lame when a few are patriotic? :psyduck:

Those two statements are not related, and I probably could have worded the second one a lot better.

Except Ironman who is a drunk, and the ultimate engineer, and a badass, and uses guns, and actually kills people instead of taking them to jail and the like.
