Jesus, no part of that sounds enjoyable.

I haven't seen Mad Max either yet. SOLIDARITY?

I honestly think my favourite moment is when their similarities are pointed out and Ultron goes fucking nuts, tearing off Klaue's arm, and then apologises like it was nothing.

Okay so I went and saw Mad Max on my day off.

Fucking EVERYBODY had the same idea.

Also, I accidentally showed up for a 3D screening and a normal one wouldn't be on for another two hours.

Despite all of these setbacks, I still managed to enjoy what will most likely be the most bitchin'est movie of the year.

My only disappointment was the fact that Max's iconic car and shotgun only made brief cameos. I thought for sure when his Interceptor showed up in the final chase, he'd find a way to commandeer it. But I'm sure there's some symbolism regarding this being a new franchise and all.

Did anybody notice that the same actor played Immortan Joe and Toecutter from the original?

Johnny Quest live action film found it's director today in the form of Robert Rodriguez. Also some "leaked" footage shows off Jokers car in Suicide Squad.
*Edit also a League of Extraordinary Gentleman is getting a Reboot.

mad max might be the first movie i have ever seen that one hundred percent embraced "show, don't tell", told me goddamned nothing but showed everything i needed to know

anyway other than that it's easily the best movie i've seen. ever. it's criminally underhyped. it's exactly what the medium should be, in every way.

my only disappointment was that immortan joe just sorta died, it was a little anti-climactic that he just kinda went "blech" then that was it. but even then, that might be the point, so hey.

Kung Fury is the sort of thing I would have hyped over when I was 10. Good watch. Good Entertainment. There is no better villain than Hitler.

gosh I GUESS this is the right thread for it? We don't really have a thread for theater stage shows but there was a movie adaptation, so anyway~

One of those terribly unmanly things about me is I adore stage shows and musicals. My favorite is The Phantom of the Opera. It has excellent music, a great story, and it's always so enjoyable to watch. I'm bringing this up because I'm watching the 25th Anniversary show that they put on at Royal Albert Hall in 2011 and it's so excellent.

There was a movie adaptation released in 2004 that I also love. It's different from the stage show in that the two mediums are very different. It stars Gerard Butler as the Phantom, Emmy Rossum as Christine Daae (the only other movie people really know her from is that Roland Emmerich film from the same year: The Day After Tomorrow), and Patrick Wilson as Raoul (in recent years he has appeared in horror movies (??? idk why) like Insidious and The Conjuring).
Sometimes (admittedly pretty often) the actor's lips don't match up to their pre-recorded singing, and in group scenes you can pick out certain voices but that actor's lips are still, but that is really the only complaint. I mean, this is the opening scene that introduces the Opera Populaire:

The Phantom of the Opera has epic music, beautiful music, wonderful singing, violent deaths, horrible murders, an emotionally manipulate pseudo-rapist, an utter cunt, and fiery disaster. If you like any of these things then at the very least watch the movie. Maybe make it a datenight thing, so you can get brownie points with your lady/emotionally overdeveloped man. Also good for solo watching if you are a total sap.

yeah so whatever carry on with discussing whatever you were discussing Mad Max or Ultron or something

Who says it's un-manly to like musicals?

I find Guys and Dolls to be quite manly. It has gambling! And men singing about gambling!
It had a movie adaptation five years after it debuted, but I wish it could get another.

I think Zootopia looks like fun. I hope they'll do some interesting things with the whole 'animal characteristics' deal.
