Re: Diablo General
Been going solo this whole time. Only died a few times now, 5 I think. Need to rework my rotation.
@Kira:
I died to Act II final boss twice from me being dumb/not activating Spirit Walk in time. That one attack is brutal.

Re: Diablo General
I've died in act 4 as demon hunter plenty of times because these demons punish being close to them a lot harder than earlier mobs did

Re: Diablo General
My friend and I have started Hell difficulty. Just took down the Skeleton King with a minute to spare on the server restarting.
He dropped fuck all though, so no surprises there.

Bought this baby from a friend for just 10k. My nightmare run is off to a good start. Now I just gotta find another good one since I've been using a longbow + quiver for a long time.

Re: Diablo General
Rolled a necromancer in Diablo II (pretty much trying them all) and it looks like he's the luck magnet because Uniques were dropping like candy. Stormnails, Blood Amulet, Shadow Club, etc. I'm almost entirely outfitted in Uniques aside from my weapon.
Still getting the hang of switching between Amplify Damage and Corpse Explosion. Mana regen is a bitch.

Re: Diablo General
Athene bitching that Blizzard put a stop to his exploit? Well that's nothing new.

Re: Diablo General
It's hardly an exploit if it's done well within the game's limits. Two specific immunity abilities with short enough cooldowns to be used consecutively, just like Blizz planned them.

Re: Diablo General
All exploits are done within the game's abilities. The definition of an exploit is abusing something within the game to gain an unfair advantage over other people. Chaining invulnerability to never take any damage is a massive exploit that needed to be fixed.
Athene is known for his cheating. He can't earn the world first legitimately so he thinks up ways to cheese them. Did in World of Warcraft and he's doing it here.

Re: Diablo General
Lemme quote a guy.
It's not cheating, though. It's a flaw in the game itself. It's Blizzard's fault.
In video games -- excepting shitty ones -- the rules are not written in a book that players have to read before playing. The rules are defined by the way the game is programmed. If you can do something in a game, it's within the rules, the only exceptions being the exploitation of obvious glitches (e.g., finding a way to walk through walls in a first-person shooter). There is no glitch in this case because the abilities were working as intended; the fact that Blizzard didn't foresee the use of this particular strategy does not mean there was an error in the code.
In Magic: The Gathering, there are plenty of cards that get banned from certain formats, but using them before they are banned is certainly not cheating. Furthermore, using a particular combination of cards that results in an instant win is not cheating, even if no one at Wizards of the Coast ever thought of that particular strategy. The player is not limited to combos that have been pre-approved by the game's designers. The rules are all written, and looking at those rules to find the best way to win is legitimate. In the case of video games, the "rules" are written in code, and carefully studying these "rules" to find the best strategy is not cheating unless you hack the program or do something that is otherwise not explicitly or implicitly allowed.
All four players on a team using the same ability on the same character is not a cheat.

Re: Diablo General
It is a cheat when they're never taking damage. That's right up there with the walking through walls and rebuilding platforms with Saronite Bombs. And Blizz thought so too because it's now fixed and Athene is going to lose the race to the people legitimately playing the game, as he should.
Stuff goes here later.
Re: Diablo General
Not taking damage would be a cheat if it was caused by something not possible in a normal game scenario, like a bug. If using two abilities that properly produce their intended effects is considered something unintentional/an exploit by Blizz, then clearly their QA was a joke and Athene and his friends shouldn't be punished for that.
