Aniphon

So I just learned of this game for the iPod/iPhone/iPad and it's similar to Pokemon in a sense, except without a storyline of any kind. Basically you use your "i" device as a detector (using Google Maps) to scan around your current location using the device's location services. And in this little blue circle of a radius these creatures called Aniphons roam around. Clicking them initiates a battle in which you can fight and capture new Aniphons to raise/train. You can also Item Scan your vicinity on the map to find items and whatnot to feed them every few hours.

It's a really new game from what I've found so there's not much to it aside from the very simple basic layout for a single player experience. Evolving Aniphons has not been incorporated but researching the game found the Developers are going to be including Evolutions, multiplayer, etc. in the future.

It's a neat little game just to toy around with on the go, plus it's Free so... there's that positive too.

Anybody else here know of it?

I could have sworn this was a game years ago with identical set-up. You bought the device and could "find" monsters in different places, then capture and train them.

Indeed, I'm pretty sure it was done before too but after looking over Google, I can't find anything about a previous idea. The only thing I could find was those Scannerz toys that you scanned barcodes with to get different monsters to play with.

From playing this game though, I find it pretty neat. Every Aniphon you catch of the same kind apparently has different movesets/abilities. And there's at least 40+ right now, the developers have yet to confirm a number I think.

Either way, it's a neat little game that was just recently released. So if you start playing now you can follow the development with their updates coming soon.
