Re: E3 2011
Oh my Jesus I was crying in the middle of class reading this thread. I was tortured from not being able to watch it, so I only had your remarks to see what happened.

Okay I missed the conference.
What makes the Wii U so special, apart from being able to play a bunch of games other consoles could already play?

Alright, I feel kind of terrible saying this because I hate it when people rain on parades myself, but that looked kinda... unimpressive, really.
Sure, I guess it's kinda neat that you have a console that doubles as a handheld too kinda, but at the same time, I have a feeling most of the motion control based stuff won't work nearly as well as it did in the trailer, mostly due to the lack of accuracy with most motion-control based things today. Not to mention those controllers will be expensive as hell.
Yeah, it's fairly neat, and there'll probably be some nice games for it, but at the same time it's like they are trying to combine a handheld and a console and are ending up with the less of each.

Re: E3 2011
Wait, did they talk at all about the actual console? It just looked like they were flaunting the controller. Not cool, IMO.

Re: E3 2011
It just seems like yet another gimmick to add to the pile. I just want Nintendo to make a nice, "vanilla" console. I don't need all of these crazy tech-doilies tossed on Nintendo's stuff.
These kinds of things scare the good developers away.

Which is why the WiiU has a very impressive third-party line-upSandwich Monster wrote:These kinds of things scare the good developers away.
Right?

Re: E3 2011
For the past few years Nintendo has basically been screaming they don't want to do "vanillia."
Also, this won't scare the good developers away. In one of the videos they showed during the press conference there were a bunch of third party people talking about how excited they were for the system, plus there's a nice line-up of promising games coming from third-party developers that they showed during the press conference.

Re: E3 2011
I get it that people are trying to innovate and all, but I have some issues
1) WiiU looks kind of neat and all, but imagine if the controller breaks - I imagine a controller with a touch screen in it is not going to be cheap, so you better keep that shit safe
2) When the heck are we going to see a regular console not relying on a gimmick of sorts, I just want something to come out again thats clean, no pointless crap and a powerful upgrade from its predecessors. I guess we're nearing the point where graphics cant really jump that drastically anymore but sheez.
3) Microsoft Conference = KINECTKINECTKINECTKINECTKINECTKINECTKINECT GOOD JOB JEREMY, FISTBUMP KINECT KINECT
4) Sony = MOVEMOVEMOVEMOVEMOVEMOVE 3D MONITOR UNCHARTED 3

Re: E3 2011
The trailer for Animal Crossing 3DS looks very nice. From the looks of it they won't be reusing Wild World's soundtrack like they did with City Folk, which I'm pop flyin' about. The Paper Mario 3DS is neat as well.
