The inconsistent AI is a fair point. Sometimes the lithe agile teams will just run at you head on instead of doing the whole finesse thing, and vice versa. Although I don't get the complaint about the real time mode being awful - I don't disagree, but I mean, that's sort of like complaining about playing real time chess. For one, you're doing it stupid, and for two, there's nothing stopping you playing it turn based.

Well, if it's in the game, and it's bad, that should be pointed out.

Well, not necessarily.

Take RapeLay. You can guess what the game is about from the title. Maybe it has bad dialogue. Is that really a valid complaint? Is anybody going to play it for the dialogue?

Well, it's not that bad dialogue would keep me from playing it, but good dialogue might enhance the experience. Doesn't a complete review consist of looking at all aspects of a game? I guess you and other people probably prefer ones that stick to the things that really matter, but when I'm going to spend ~50 bucks on something, I want to be sure I'm going to be satisfied.

Which is fair enough, but there is a button that changes it from real time to turn based, possible to use at will! The real time mode sucks because it's a bad idea to begin with. Frankly, they should have left it out, but keeping it in as an optional mode in no way detracts from the turn based experience. I mean, I see absolutely no negative in it. It's like you've been given a steak and a plate of crap. If you don't want to eat the crap, nobody's making you; the steak's where the effort went.

Bad metaphor. Pretty sure having a pile of crap next to my steak would kind of make me not want to eat the steak.

Okay then, so it's like Dwarf Fortress. The game has bad graphics, yes, but if that's the only thing you noticed about the game, then that's not a great thing.

Oh, I didn't get that you could switch whenever. The reviewer seems to have neglected mentioning that.
Well, you're doing a good job of promoting the game, I might check it out now.

The slight lack of customisation was fairly accurate. You only get a handful of guys to pick from, and for a lot of the teams it's 'you get eight little guys and four big guys'. But there's like twelve teams or some shit, so it's still fairly varied.

Also basing your own opinion on reviews makes you look weak.

It's kind of hard for me to have an opinion on a game

if I haven't played it yet.

Too much effort. No, you're right, but I have to be interested in the game before doing all that and use reviews and game play videos for a general idea what the game is like.
