I just realized I spent almost all day reading old articles of
Making Magic and now that i'm done I really don't know why.
I really need to get back to playing the game. or at least making decks jesus I haven't touched my cards in over a month.

Fuck them if they do. I looked it up and Wizards supplies everything except the space for the event.

From my understanding entry fees are usually put towards some sort of prize pool, at least the store where I play does. Prizes are usually booster packs or theme decks and sometimes a tube of counter beads or something
Wizards supplies alternate art foil cards to be distributed and that seems to be it

Friday Night Magic is intended for new players to get the hang of the game from what Wizard is saying. But if there's prizes of any sort then it's guaranteed that the veterans will come in scores to claim said prizes by crushing the opposition.
I've got two themed decks and two boosters. I'm not beating anyone so what would the point of handing over my cheddar be?

Playing for fun, which all really depends on the people who go. There's a noticeable split between veterans and non here, but winning only really gets you first pick of the prize pool, we have one prize for everyone. The guys we have here are great to play with and all that losing I did when I started going definitely helped me with my deck building. Just go check it out for fun one night or at least ask a few questions on how they do things there.
Too bad for me though, I'll be missing FNMs due to my shitty 6-2 afternoon shift. It's not like I wanted to play in that Commander tourney last thursday or anything

Eh, might as well. Only way I'll even get to play the game. It'll have to wait for next week though.

To complete my Myracle deck, I need three more Myr Turbines, one more Superion, two more Golumns hearts and a Memnarch.

So I have this awesome merfolk soveirgn (how2spell) that gives +2/+2 to all merfolk and can tap to make target merfolk unblockable. The thing is, I have about 3 or 4 merfolk total. My brother offered to trade some to me, but I don't really have anything to trade. I'll see if theres anything in the booster packs I'm hoping to get for my birthday to trade.

There's alot of good merfolk cards in lorwyn block also, theres a nice merfolk lord in RoE. there's a uncommon merfolk lord(gives 1+/1+etc) in lorwyn. theres also an old card called lord of atlantis that you should look into for a merfolk deck, you can go blue/black or blue/white for merfolk colors usually.

Thinking about maybe starting a cardshop in town in a few years after the current one closes shop.

A buddy of mine and I were thinking of doing the same thing. Our problem is we don't know very much about comic book lore and all that, and we're afraid people would think us "unfit".
BUT SCREW THEM, WE OWN THE STORE.

The store I go to here barely sells comics and does just fine. They mostly do cards, miniatures, paintball etc.

thinking of picking up one of those huge card lots over ebay or amazon or whatever because I really want to expand my collection to have more older cards (almost everything I have right now is post-zendikar) and it seems like the cheapest/best solution. anybody know any reliable sites that have them? I don't want to put down $20 or so and then just get 1000 islands.
also I built a deck of artifacts and the only lands produce colorless mana. dunno why, I think I just had a desire to make an artifact deck to use some of the assloads of ones i've unpacked from my booster-pack spree of mirrodin besieged earlier this year and a desire to put the various urza lands I had in a deck and they just came together. it isn't horrible but really if it just had more than 1 urza's tower (note that it does have 4 mines and power plants), it'd be great.

So I made out well for my birthday. I got 4 booster packs and a starter deck. I just finished beefing up my white, blue, and green decks with the misc cards, and I'm trying to figure out what to do with the new red and black cards, and this black and green starter deck, since I already have a fire swamp deck that I'm pop flyin' with.
I'm kinda afraid to make any changes to my fire swamp deck, I'm quite pop flyin' with it the way it is.
