Re: fucking magnets: The Gathering
Approximately one hundred percent of the cards I buy come from drafts. I'm gonna need to buy some Eldrazi here soon, though. Not looking forward to that...

Re: fucking magnets: The Gathering
Haha, now that there are tolerable people to play it with, I'm bothering to actually learn the rules and not just know the main concept of the game.
Built my first deck out of health gain black/white, with no real theme to the creatures on this one. All I did was buy a 15-pack of I think 40 each black, white, and colorless common cards, and then a pack each of uncommons (same 3), and put it together out of whatever random cards I got from that.
I tested it out for the first time against Sloth's Green deck (which is pretty damned good, from my observations), and lost, but only by one turn.
I think that if I put one or two cards in there that are just a wee bit more powerful, I'll be good. Because it serves its purpose well. He just got really damned lucky and took out the last of my life all in one shot right before I would have been able to beat him.

I used to play Black/White. Loved it. If I'm not mistaken, the Lorwyn block (I want to say Shadowmoor and/or Eventide specifically. Don't quote me.) has some exceptional black/white cards.

Ah, I'm still figuring some stuff out on the cards. I couldn't tell you when half of my cards are from. They were just stuck into a varying pack of their type.
Also, might have a blue deck to modify soon. Found out my stepmom used to play back when it first came out, and she ran a blue. So I might have some cards that are quite bodaciously older than me soon.

Re: Magic: The Gathering
I remember in junior high there was a kid who played Magic. He let me construct a deck from some of his leftover cards and duel against his prize deck.
I barely recall anything about my deck other than it had a red dragon and utilized some of the most annoying gimmicks I've seen in a card game, and this is coming from someone who found an infinite damage loop and abused it in DBZ. By the end of a single duel I'd rustled off the kid enough to where he refused a second one.

Stuff goes here later.
Re: Magic: The Gathering
I played a few games today with Tuxedo Mask, he beat me once but that was because I didn't take the chance I had to beat him when I had it.

Re: Magic: The Gathering
Got an awesome 20 dollar deck box from walmart. Gonna spend tomorrow building a bunch of rad decks, and the next day using them against my brother.

Re: fucking magnets: The Gathering
Exploited the infinite mana "glitch" with my Myr deck today.
Was glorious. Wait until I find a Myr Battlesphere where it racks up infinite attack power.
Also nothing is better then frankensteining my Myr Welder into the super Myr of wonder.

Re: fucking magnets: The Gathering
Decided I wanted to build a new deck.
Still playing off the black/white theme.
It is comprised of angels and vampires. This deck be bitchin.

Re: fucking magnets: The Gathering
Decks I made:
My new favorite, a mountain/swamp deck. There's all kinds of instants like lava axe, lightning bolt, doom blade, etc.
I also have a plains deck, it has all sorts of fun stuff, like two kitesail apprentices, and equipment to go on them.
And then I have an island deck, with all sorts of fun stuff like scrying.
Finally, I have a forest deck, with auras, which contains 13 of my artifacts, and a few things with metalcraft abilities.
I was playing with my mountain swamp deck vs one of my brothers decks. We both had several vampires on the field, and he put down a card which made each player have to sacrifice a non-vampire at the beginning of his upkeep. We didn't have anything to sacrifice.

One of my favorites for Red/Black.

And no Sloth, you can't have my darksteel myr, iron myr, plague myr, those myrs that explode, etc. They are fun.
Anyway, I was doing a four way battle, me using my fire swamp deck, and I had a bunch of destructive instants, finally getting some creatures after a few turns. Someone else had two "Counter spell" cards. I hit him with my blackcleave goblin a few times, since he had no defenses, and he quickly died. However, he used his last breathing moment to enchant his brother's already beefed up creature. I either used quag sickness or doomblade on said beefed up creature. I also used my other doomblade on my brother's freshly summoned eldrazi.
He resurrected it using yet another eldrazi's battlefield entering ability. And he attacked me using one of my eldrazi, effectively killing me. I made sure to leave the battlefield in style though, and possessor of said beefed up creature from earlier won. My brother left his defenses wide open with little health left.
This is a fun card game.

Just noticed that a darksteel myr would easily fall to something with infect. -1/-1 counter, it's dead jim, dead.Sloth wrote:I already have plenty of Darksteel myrs and explody myrs
