Magic: The Gathering
Re: Magic: The Gathering
So I bought a $20 box set with like, a billion cards in it. I'm pretty pop flyin' because I have a few ideas for new decks springing to mind.
Also, I got a Mythic Rare card, Indomitable Archangel. So that's cool.
Oooh, and another one, Demon of Death's Gate.

I know I'm way behind, but this is news to me. EXCITING news.
They were eager to build a world steeped in a misty full-moon setting, with horrors lurking around every corner (horrors without infect).
i can already tell i'm going to love this block a million times more than the scars one.without infect
between forceflash and slowtrip (and what I'm hoping is snow-covered lands, if that art is any indication) i'm calling it now, this might just be more awesome than zendikar and worldwake were.
Re: Magic: The Gathering
So I constructed a preliminary deck with the cards I got today. I haven't used it yet, but I did start drawing from it and it has a real shortage of actual creatures in it, which I was expecting. So I'm going to have to look through some other older decks and steal some cards.
Hopefully tomorrow the boyfran will help me test it out.
But there are so many new features and rules and stuff l'm trying to figure out asdf
EDIT: I have 16 creatures...how many should I aim for?

Re: Magic: The Gathering
it really depends more on what kind of deck you're building. decks can run pretty fine without creatures at all, assuming you know what you're doing at least and have some crazy combo bullshit ready to pull off.
Re: Magic: The Gathering
I'll just try it how it is for right now, I don't want to add to much more, I already have a little over 60 cards.

Re: Magic: The Gathering
don't be afraid to add more cards, all my decks have around 75, and that's probably smaller than a good few would make theirs.
though I will say, unless you've got at least 20 or so land you're just screwing yourself.

Re: Magic: The Gathering
My deck is approximately a third lands, a little more than a third creatures, and a little less than a third sorcery, enchantments, and instants, and it works like a charm. 60 cards, in case you were wondering.impmon08 wrote:don't be afraid to add more cards, all my decks have around 75, and that's probably smaller than a good few would make theirs.

When I get my huge card box, I'll probably turn my current deck into a mono deck, and see how it works. If it fails horribly, I'll make a mono deck out of some other mana type. If there are plenty of landfall things, I'll make a landfall deck, or anything else that I can see.

Re: Magic: The Gathering
landfall? what, are you using zendikar? I hope you are because zendikar was fucking awesome
but yeah, 26 land is more than good enough.

Re: fucking magnets: The Gathering
Thanx for the tip on the elvish piper. My friends never play anymore some I probably wont even go for the deck, I had them two laying around and was cleaning and thought they would go together.
The funny thing is Ive only bought oone fat pack and two white starter decks and I got a elseph the first pack I ever opened. I had to ask if it was good or not because I was still learning about the game. And I found out and old friend has about 20000+cards and they are all good. He gave me like 500 last year and I just started sorting them out.
Good god I rant a lot here.

Re: Magic: The Gathering
Every time I consider getting into Magic I have to remind myself that my self-control when it comes to cards is dubious at best. Yu-Gi-Oh! burned huge chunks of my cheddar, as did Pokemon, and between the two Digimon.
The artwork is nice to look at though. And maybe someday when I have a stable source of income I'll be able to indulge a bit.

Stuff goes here later.

Re: Magic: The Gathering
i seriously got the huge majority of my collection (of like a thousand cards) over the course of the last six months from horrible cheddar binges on this cardboard shit.
though i've mellowed out now I guess, since I rarely buy cards/packs, and i'm planning on just cutting it to "only get new cards from drafts" from now on.
