I doubt Will is really equipped to deal with the entire Family without some serious preparation (read: Landmines) first, but he also doesn't strike me as the sort of guy to try and hear both sides of the story when one is so explicitly negative. I say sneak your way in.

Why would

For one, the man's wearing combat armor and has a sub machine gun, at the door. There's a man in there who gives Zink the schematics to a Shishkebob, and they're all heavily armed. Talking may be boring in one aspect, but more interesting because you know, they're people with stories.

Also you forgot to check the bodiessssssss

Stealth + get caught in a situation in which you have to kill everyone to escape or something.

how about this
talk to them, do the quest, but at the end of it all dispense justice by placing landmines everywhere and killing them

If you kill him you don't need the schematics to a Shishkebob because you can just take his.

Also, my medical skill isn't high enough for anything to be gained by checking the bodies.

This is true. Additionally, there's a unique weapon that Vance holds in a chest, which would probably be the first unique in this LP.
Zink wrote:Also, my medical skill isn't high enough for anything to be gained by checking the bodies.
Zink's right about that. In fact his Medicine skill is juuuuuuuust low enough to prevent him from gaining any information from examining the dead bodies in Arefu. 1 point off, to be more exact. Granted, you need 75 Medicine to correctly identify the bite marks, and 90 in order to get a better clue of where they are.

You can't really do that since it causes you to fail the quest and make the town of Arefu hostile to you.

Look, it seems pretty apparent that the kid got kidnapped by these guys after they slaughtered his parents. Hence, it's time for Will to be a hero. I vote you go in there and rescue the kid.

I'm much more worried about Will actually having to fight the guy with a Shishkebob.

Also, in my opinion, there's only about two remotely interesting people in that whole "settlement". Better to cover the whole place in deactivated landmines and stuff live grenades into people's pockets if you ask me.

I'm pretty sure Will is smart enough to tell the difference between petty hit-and-run gang members and an organized group of cannibals, and which ones he should do his best to avoid fighting, even if he is a crappy hero.
Burn 'em to shreds, tear 'em to ashes.
