"Gimmick" seems to be a subjective word these days
So far, I've counted 3 people who wanted the gyroscope to 1 who wanted a second slide pad in these past hours. On this forum, anyways.

Fine whatever. Stick to your "INNOVATION" of swinging a game around while I want some practicality. I'm sorry I'm not into these gimmicks that Nintendo just throw in there for the casual crowds. I'm VERY sorry that i want to play games 2 slide pads, as is the norm with most other consoles. I'M SORRY FOR BEING REALISTIC.

And in my opinion, they provided new means to make and play games with those "gimmicks" and lost nothing because the touch screen acts as a makeshift secondary slide pad.
And once again, stalemated opinions on the matter.
Quick question though, have you used the gyroscope feature in the 3DS yet? It gets a lot of flak until people use it. It's a really nice feature, and for most games that I've seen use it, you're not going to be running around and spinning "like a retard" like dumbasses like to claim.
And I'm sorry too. Sorry that you can't accept that other people have different opinions on the matter and that you can't accept those as being just as valid as yours. No one is saying that a second analog stick is a stupid idea for a console, however, just because it's been done successfully on other consoles doesn't mean it's everyone's cup of tea. Clearly you don't like the cameras and gyroscope. That's fine. But don't act like your opinion on the slide pads are the be all end all of gaming perfection.
In other words, cool your tits.

Yes i have used it, actually. It's very useless and doesn't have any aim or precision I couldn't have done with a slide pad. It just seems useless to me where a 2nd slide pad could come in handy better than that.\
And just because something can be a makeshift 2nd slide pad, doesn't mean it should be there to replace it.

I suppose in this case, it's a matter of opinion.
Personally, I would pick the gyroscope for pointing over the slide pad.
Also, my point is, the second slide pad would just waste space.

I guess so. But it would still seem that the second slide pad would be more practical in any case.

I don't know, taking your thumb off the action buttons and onto a second stick just to change the camera in 99% of games always kinda felt suboptimal to me.

Which is why I like games where camera controls are on the L and R buttons, but a lot of games use those for other functions nowadays.

None of this would be a problem if they just invented brain-to-button input.

First company to make the brain-to-button-input would make a lot of cheddar. I can't make a preference of gyro-scope vs. 2nd analog stick... They have their advantages and disadvantages.

Nah, then there will be people talking about "They should stop with those gimmicks and keep their 4 analog finger implants."

I'm just wondering, how do DS games look on the 3DS compared to the DSi XL? Do the games look more stretched on the 3DS, or vice versa?

From what I've seen, I think the DSi XL looks more stretched, especially since the top screen is much bigger. People report color loss between the 3DS and DS while playing DS game on the 3DS, but I don't see it.

Yeah, I've heard stuff like that but I've also heard people day say that their DSi XL doesn't make the games look any worse, so I'm probably just going to end up looking at one of my friend's or something. Still, if anyone else has something to say about it that would be cool.
I'm asking because I'm probably going to get a DSi sometime in mid-late October, and if the price for a white DSi skyrockets for some reason I'm just going to get a burgundy DSi XL.
