Why can't I connect to any servers?

I try to join one and I get sent back to the title screen.

Might be outdated versions or something. I'm not sure.

The lag was ever in my favor, I won another forum's Minecraft Hunger Games.

I'm game, but Minecraft's combat system is still kind of shit, making these endeavors slightly more buggy and problematic. I would encourage the use of some proletariats, if possible.
