So, Im seriously considering getting Minecraft(free version first), and then later the actual Beta. I'll increase my buildings skills, so I can do this project, which will more than likely take a while:

Since you're all Minecraft veterans I have to ask; how hard would this be?

Beta is much more like a full game, Classic is only really for building projects like spritework or game recreations.
It's a much different feel.

So Slimes are back.
But the spawn is rare, and now they only spawn on Easy, Normal, and Hard difficulties and never on peaceful.

BIG clay deposit by the spawn point, mountain with a lot of coal in one direction and a collection of islands the other direction.

The most terrifying thing ever:
Realize there is a spider that spawned on your first-night cave shelter's roof.
Climb up the other side of the hill, see it stuck on a ledge that is 2 blocks high. Ha! It's stuck!
Hit it.
Watch in horror as a giant spider reskinned to look like a black widow climbs towards you with a terrifying smile on its face.

Huh. That was fun. Second night in the game.

About spider jockeys:
The arrows go through glass.
If the spider climbs a wall to the top, the skeleton will start to suffocate in any solid block above it.
