Re: The Legend of Zelda
I think the main thing that has jelled with a lot of reviewers is that the game has essentially dropped you into the game to fend for yourself and learn. Get stuck on a dungeon? Go to another one. Can't quite beat that boss? Maybe come back with more heart containers. It's built to where you can tackle it in a number of ways rather than a set order.
The hand holding is less necessary because the gameplay is more intuitive and learning based, and the items are more balanced to where one isn't dominant and needs to be held until the end of the game. Plus, with items not being found in dungeons, you don't have to be constrained in your inventory based on which dungeons you've pillaged.
It'll be interesting to see if LBW generates as much interest in new gamers as it does in ones that are used to the Zelda gameplay enough to not need the gradual learning curve.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
Every time I watch gameplay of Link Between Worlds I get motion sickness.
Idk if it's the game or if it's watching in through Youtube but I don't get that feeling with other videos so
I want to play a demo but big Nintendo titles seem to never get any

No more items in dungeons? Interesting, where do you get them from then?

You rent them in whatever order you want for whatever dungeon needs said item.Madican wrote:No more items in dungeons? Interesting, where do you get them from then?

Re: The Legend of Zelda
Rent? Not keep? Not sure how much I like that. I enjoyed finding new ways to use some items outside of the dungeons. Like only traveling via Beyblade in Twilight Princess.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
Nintendo seems to save big demos as things to show off at events, I guess to help draw people to their booths. If they provided the demos online, then people would worry less about getting in line to try it out.
Though it is strange that they don't eventually release these demos after they have run their course.
You CAN buy them, but they're really expensive, so you won't be doing that until late game. Once you buy them, they won't leave your inventory if you die.
So basically, if you grind for enough rupees at the beginning, you can rent all of the items (except bottles, I think) and have your inventory full and ready to deal with everything.
There's also a place you can take your items to be upgraded (bow fires 3 arrows, that kind of stuff), but I think you need to own the item to upgrade it.

You can use them outside of dungeons, in fact you rent them from a shop in Hyrule. If you die though, they all go back to the shop and you have to pay to rent them again.Madican wrote:Rent? Not keep? What harm could come from imprisoning a hellinternet beast every night and making it hate humanity and what it stands for?
Then we can release it back into the wild.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
You may laugh, but reviewers felt more stressed and disappointed for dying, without getting the "this game is bullshit" feeling. If this is true (debatable since reviewers usually fret when they aren't spoonfed), it'll be kind of a good thing, adding a decent punishment for death.
Also there's hero mode when you beat the game which makes you take more damage and lose out on hidden hearts.

"Some of" them? there were only 2.Tales wrote:I did find some of the ds ones a bit iffy?
Also, your problem there is that your top down experience is with the DS ones. Try bodaciously any other top down Zelda.
