Re: Why are we talking about metroids in the Zelda thread?
I like the parts in games where you actually feel something like terror/impending doom - but I've never actually not played a game because of fear of being attacked by metroids or whatever.
I think if you've played Super Metroid you tend to have mixed feelings about metroids anyway - all that stuff with the hatchling tends to leave a lasting impression.
Underwater sections in games do make me feel uncomfortable though - even when you're fully equipped with the Gravity Suit in a Metroid game - being drowned is only an inch of metal away (which is crazy talk anyway because the vacuum of space and alien atmospheres aren't necessarily any less hostile).

I don't think you quite get it.
Ice missiles went through them.
Ice is the only way to stop metroids.
at the time there was not a conceivable thing i could do to stop them and it was not a situation i ever wanted to be in

Re: The Legend of Zelda
They've been exposed to so much Phazon that some can actually phase through solid matter. Conserve your ammo and keep shooting with a beam. They'll die from anything you shoot at them if you hit them enough times. Metroids are also unstable during their growth stage if they've just got done feeding on something. The trick to hitting them with Ice Missiles is to memorize their phazing patterns.
Character is what you are in the dark.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
God, the introduction to the Metroids is one of my favorite parts of Corruption.
We should make a Metroid thread whenever there is another one of those coming out (several years from now.)

Re: The Legend of Zelda
I've never played a Metroid game... Don't mind me, I'll just be in that corner over there wondering what I'm missing.

Re: The Legend of Zelda
Only Metroids I've played are the original and Fusion.
I have Prime but never played it
Should I

I'm taking the liberty of banning you until you do
that should answer your question

Re: The Legend of Zelda
Could anyone help me with Windwaker? I just booted it up the other day and it says that I have the triforce on the start sign (but I'm sure I haven't collected the pieces) because the master sword isn't powered up? And there's a circle around headstone island but i went there and the door is open (which would mean that I've gotten Medli) but then medli isn't there? I checked the map and it looks like i've explored some of the rooms but not all, so maybe i've got to get her (or the little tree guy and go there)? Idk where i'm up to because i've gotten all of the items too (except the light arrows) so maybe i should check the tower of the gods?

Re: The Legend of Zelda
I started playing Link's Awakening again and this game is amazing
Re: The Legend of Zelda
I've also started playing Link's Awakening again. Now that I'm not stuck trying to find gold leaves, I find it much more enjoyable.
Also, the boss in Angler's Tunnel is stupidly easy. I bodaciously didn't take a single hit the entire fight (which took maybe 30 seconds).
