You expected any different? This is Zelda we're talking about.
If they want (shudder) realistic graphics, they can go back to playing TP- Oh. Right. They hate that because it's too brown, and Wind Waker because it's too colourful, and the only good Zelda games were ALttP and OoT.

Urgh, the Fan Dumb and Hate Dumb.

I'm hoping the Skyward Sword bundle won't sell out before I get my cheddar, I checked the Best Buy website and it looks like the only two stores that haven't sold out are two hours away, either that or the website is messed up. But I just called Gamestop and the woman on the phone said that I should be guaranteed to get it as long as I buy it before the release date, so I don't think I should worry.

Nope.avi

You do know were not going to know exactly how it scales on the excellent-o-meter until we get to play it ourselves right? On that note, the graphics itself look kinda iffy, but I saw an awful lot of new Hylian machinery in those levels. And Im a huge history fan 8===D

I didn't care too much for the train aspect in spirit tracks.
Shit felt like it was on rails-OH WAIT.
No but seriously, it didn't feel as big as PH.

It was fun the first run through, same with Spirit tracks, but it never made me want toplay again.

No. The rule applies to the console games.

I.E. When OoT came out, ALttP was better (there WERE quite a few magazines back then that thought that 3D Zelda was boring, less detailed, and utterly "unrecognizable" from the 2D versions that were full of charm, however, they weren't anywhere near as bad as the naysayers of today). OoT was the best Zelda when Majora's Mask came out, because "it actually had content rather than using stupid sidequests as filler". Plus, no adult Link (FIERCE DEITY DOESN'T COUNT, MAN!!!) made people hate it. Then, Majora's Mask was the best (OoT was conveniently ignored even though "everyone" agreed it was the best game ever made) when Wind Waker came out because it didn't try to appeal to 5 year old kids and had a rich, deep storyline unlike the "sail around" plot of Wind Waker. Finally (for now), Wind Waker was the best Zelda game because it actually had charm and dared to be unique at the time, instead of pandering to the fanbase and barely doing anything to make it unique. Plus, it got ported to the Wii, and Link became a upstanding member of society, and that's unforgivable.

So likely in the next few years, Zelda fans will bitch about how Skyward Sword "refused to use a real controller", didn't have Left-handed Link (which at least TP had on the Gamecube), and couldn't decide between pandering to the WW or TP fanbases, and thus tried to whore out to both camps. and I'm sure the plot will be cliche and stupid unlike the "rich and wonderful tapestry" stitched together by Twilight Princess (where, you know, Ganondorf was behind everything, as usual).

Plus, a lot of the hate stems from the newer Zelda fans that have gotten into the series in the last installments, back when they were doe-eyed and willing to give anything a chance. Generally speaking, to most Zelda fans, the first game they played of the series will be their favorite, and the ones that come afterwards won't "recapture that Zelda feeling".

Hence why N64 kids generally hate WW, WW kids generally hate TP, and TP kids generally seem to be bashing Skyward Sword.

I do have to say though, in my experience, why does ALttP seem to get the short stick for love from fans? I realize the game is old (turning 20 on the 21st. God I'm old.), but it seems like every Zelda title except it (and Zelda II, for kinda obvious reasons) has a pretty sizable fanbase.

I figured that the GBA port of it should have atleast gotten another generation of fans, but it seems like everyone either likes the original, awakening, or Ocarina onward, whle the rest just seem to think it's kinda average.

Is this a case of Seinfeld isn't funny?

And why the hell am I typing walls today? Jesus christ.

Ew, no, I played Twilight Princess first and really wanted to like it, but just ended up feeling kinda disappointed by what was supposed to be a great entry title into one of Nintendo's big franchises.

I played Wind Waker later on and loved it.

The first games I played were the Oracle games.

Wind Waker was the first console game that I beat, not played, and it's my favorite in the series.

Although I guess I agree that the first game played is probably going to be someone's favorite, because I can't imagine how Twilight Princess would have any other fans?

There is nothing that will make me like Spirit Tracks and its fucking harmonica. I like Zelda for the massive overworld and exploration, but that was all stripped in favor of a rail-shooter.

I must be the exception to the "game before the current is the best" rule. I've actually given the games I could play a chance. So far I've only beaten OoT and Four Swords, but every Zelda game I've played I enjoyed. Twilight Princess was good until I got to Snowpoint where I got stuck, Majora's Mask is excellent and might be my favorite in the series if I could get through Great Bay without the time limit getting in the way, Every 2D Elda game gets me frustrated, so I'm not too fond of Zelda 1, 2, Link to the Past, and Link's Awakening. I like ST, but it's just too small for my taste.

Everything else I've yet to play.

Wind Waker is my favorite, but not my first.
