Theres a difference between "Cheating" and "Efficiency".Plasma wrote:Wait, you won't even play the game if you can't cheat in it?!Ryushusupercat wrote:I WOULD Be playing Pokemon Diamond and worknig on training my Pokemon if my AR didn't suddently decide to crap out on me!
Some people don't like spending 3 hours training one pokemon up to level 100.

I don't use AR to speedtrain Pokemon myself, just to get shinies and event Pokemon.Tasty Waffle wrote:Theres a difference between "Cheating" and "Efficiency".Plasma wrote:Wait, you won't even play the game if you can't cheat in it?!Ryushusupercat wrote:I WOULD Be playing Pokemon Diamond and worknig on training my Pokemon if my AR didn't suddently decide to crap out on me!

Sometimes I use it to get certain novelty items like the Cherish Ball and stuff for the lulz.

No, I need the Mega EXP cheat and the "Catch any Pokemon" cheat in order to train them. It's part of my training regiment.Plasma wrote:Wait, you won't even play the game if you can't cheat in it?!Ryushusupercat wrote:I WOULD Be playing Pokemon Diamond and worknig on training my Pokemon if my AR didn't suddently decide to crap out on me!
Say I'm training a Pokemon that I want to improve its HP (like Mr. Mime). My Pokemon that I'm training already has PKRS and is holding either a Macho Brace or a Power Weight (depending on how poor its HP is).
Blissey gives 3 HP Effort Points when you kill it. So, I use the "Catch any Pokemon" cheat in the grassy areas near Sandgem Town (I need to hunt the lowest level possible so my Pokemon doesn't accidentally level up before I give it the desired Effort Values) and make wild Blisseys appear. I have my Mr. Mime kill at least 25-30 Blisseys, then use the "Mega EXP Gain" cheat to make it level up. By doing this, it should have gained at least 30 HP points (or more) in one level!

But... why would you even do that? I mean, it's the half-way mark between playing it normally and just creating a powerhouse Pokemon from scratch. So I can't see the point on using a system that doesn't get you your ideal Pokemon without effort, but that can't be bragged about when comparing Pokemon (well, then again, that never stopped DnD).

I train my Pokemon through hard-work, blood, sweat and tears.
I might get SOME of my original Pokemon through illegitimate means, but that doesn't mean I take short-cuts when training them.
I can still brag about them if I want (the only reason I even did that was because somebody else started it).

I'm rather unsure as to how I should reply.Plasma wrote:But... why would you even do that? Creating a powerhouse from scratch obviously refers to those who use Pokesav.
I'm simply trying to train my Pokemon and improve their most terrible stats, while trying to keep it legit. (except for its moveset, of course.)
And...do you think I brag about my Pokemon?
EDIT: No, I will not brag about this PAGE GET~

But... that's not legit at all! Well, it is in the sense that I can create a shiny level 100 Arceus with full IVs and 510 EVs and it'd still be legit, but not in the sense that what I just did wasn't cheating!Ryushusupercat wrote:I'm simply trying to train my Pokemon and improve their most terrible stats, while trying to keep it legit. Heck, even by changing the movesets you're making it less legit than said powerhouse Arceus! I mean, no matter what definition you use, your Pokemon aren't legit!
Oh yeah, and for those of you who don't know: there's only three things you can actually abuse in Pokemon data that'd make it non-legit, and the moveset is one of them (the other two being EVs (but not IVs) and Ability).
Yes.Ryushusupercat wrote:And...do you think I brag about my Pokemon?

If a use a code to get the Azure Flute, I meet Arceus in a completely legitimate way.
If I use a shiny code while fighting and catching that Arceus, there's no way anyone can know that I didn't legitimately meet a shiny Arceus in a legitimate way.
This is how the mind of a master criminal works.

Yes.

I know that my Pokemon aren't legit, but if I gave them legit moves, it wouldn't look like it was hacked...possibly.Plasma wrote:But... that's not legit at all! I wasn't saying "Haha, look at my Weavile, it's so much better than yours!", I was merely curious as to what stat (or stats) people had paid special attention to on their Pokemon. For my Weavile, it was its Defenses.Plasma wrote:Yes.Ryushusupercat wrote:And...do you think I brag about my Pokemon?

I don't really see the justification in hacking to get to level 100 quicker anymore, now that the game automatically makes your Pokemon the same level as your opponent's Pokemon when you do wifi battles. If you have the cash for EV items, and the needed TMs for your Pokemon, for the most part, after you actually get the Pokemon you want to train, it only takes around 10 minutes or so to get it combat ready. If you are hacking for level 100, you are hacking for the wrong thing IMO.
Also, at Ryushusupercat, have you ever actually read a guide on EV training? There are plenty of trainers in the game which are perfect for EV training. Just use the rebattling key item thingy. Or wild Pokemon *shrug* Even with only 1 EV monsters, it takes only 16 battles to cap out your EVs for a stat. 2EV monsters is only 8. With some trainers, it's as few as only 2-3 battles. I guess using AR for wild Pokemon brings it down to only 5-6 battles, but it still strikes me as silly.

HP:
I honestly just use wild wooper / quagsire. You go to route 212 and surf. Quagsire give 2 EVs / KO and Wooper give 1 EV / KO. With power items and pokerus that's 16 wooper, the last one without a power item. Or it's 14 Wooper and a Quagsire. Etc.
Attack:
For attack either I chain Shinx in the earlier routes. They give 1 EV / KO so it's easy to keep track of. Or I fish for Gyarados / Seaking with a super rod. They each give 2 Atk EVs / KO. You have to use a super rod. I use the pond in the resort area.
Defense:
I use Hiker Kevin. He is standing on raised terrain on Route 207. He uses three Geodude and an Onix. This gives you a total of 4 EVs. With power items and pokerus that's raised to 42 defense EVs per battle. I don't bother with wild pokemon for defense.
Special Attack:
On the wild side of things there's Gastly, Golduck and Psyduck. Gastly gives 1 SPA EV Per KO (10 with PI + PKRS), Psyduck gives the same and Golduck gives 2 SPA EVs / KO (or 12). Gastly is of course found in the haunted mansion and is my preferred method. Golduck is found in the resort area pond by surfing. Psyduck is found like everywhere by surfing. He also pops up in the resort area pond, so you can get them there too. The resort area Pokemon range from 30-55 I think. Gastly gets to around level 17 in the mansion. (Haunter and Gengar are also good, giving 2 and 3 EVs respectively. They appear with a GBA game in the slot).
Special Defense:
For SpDef I use Beauty Devon. She's on route 214, south from Veilstone City. She's the trainer past the man that's walking up and down repeatedly. She has three wormadams which add together for a cool 6 SpDef EVs. 36 SpDef EVs if you're using the appropriate item and pokerus.
Speed:
There is only one place in the game to train speed in my eyes; the 6 magikarp trainer. With power anklet and pokerus he gives an awesome 60 Speed EVs per battle. I recommend battling him twice then fishing the rest so that you can remove the power item for the last KO. But it's up to you. If you don't mind having 255 speed just fight him 3 times.
I'm not soulless. I have plenty of souls. They're just not mine.
