Sleeper hit of the year, no lie. Pick this game up--It's like a Mario platformer, but hilarious. Also there's a puzzle thing that powers up your rifle. Great soundtrack, great humor, amazing characters...This game is great.
Oh, and it's also harder than Mega Man 9. Gentleman Mode threatens to knock over Ninja Gaiden as the toughest shit ever, or so I read.

So let me get this straight:
It is a platformer
It is a comedy
It has a puzzle thing that powers up your rifle
Well I guess it wouldn't be AwkwardZombie without threads with no helpful information in them whatsoever.
Made all the worse by the fact that it's, as you said, a sleeper hit, meaning you're pretty much REQUIRED to describe it.

Wikipedia says it's for the DS.
Also, this is the cover:

Finally, here's a
trailer.

After I saw that it is an EA game, I didn't even bother to check the trailer.

Gyahh I wish I had a DS. Or a Wii.
But all we have is an Xbox360, which will eventually get the RRoD.

In its defense, the EA logo has a monocle, too. That has to count for something.

Layton was my favorite game last year. Anything that gets compared to it I think is worth my time. I'm pretty stoked to get this, maybe once the price goes down a bit.
Anyone who hasn't played Layton, though, get that. Man, man oh man, man.

Haha, sorry, I guess I'm just too enthralled by its gameplay to be able to perfectly describe everything. Uhhh...The story is really wacky, it's one of those things that doesn't make sense, so you don't even mind it. The World's Most best-Dressed Gentleman once conquered the world using his stylish golden suit, and you must collect all of the pieces to stop the treasure-laden puzzle-realm from encroaching Tealand and its many continents. Henry Hatsworth is the top adventurer in the Pompous Gentleman's Adventure Club, and at the start of the game he's instructed to retrieve the Golden Hat. Upon putting the hat on, he's turned 20 years younger and accidentally lets loose the evil Puzzle Realm (Bejeweled) on the world.
It's up to him to get the rest of the Golden Pieces and save the world, allthewhile looking incredibly stylish. You fight your rival Weasleby and his team of mercenaries in each world.
Bee tee dubs, here's the first boss, as an example of how self-aware this game is.

Bejewled? Seriously? That's kind of disappointing. Does the platforming make up for that?

More like Panel De Pon.

See, that's the thing, I was never much of a fan of puzzle things...But in Henry Hatsworth, it's used so well. The bottom screen is a steadily-rising deluge of blocks, and enemies killed on the top screen return to the puzzle. You then line them up to power up your mech and fire lasers from your rifle and OH GOD IT IS SO COOL.
At first, it seems boring and lame (like on the first two levels), but eventually the platforming aspects get so hard that you'll be wishing for a chance to go back to the puzzle and get some items. It's all brilliantly executed.

One thing that really impresses me about this game is that you're supposed to pause the game when you work on the lower screen. Because I totally wouldn't put it past EA to be a total dick and make you do it during gameplay. But they avoided that landmine.
I want this game a lot. And Professor Layton. And while we're at it, lots of other DS games released this year and last.

Yeah, my little sister has this game and she loves it. If you store up enough energy in the puzzle segment on the bottom screen you can turn into the awesome giant robot thing.
