Yeah... I preferred the anime's "Pokemon speak their names" idea than this.
"Hey guys, guess what Pokemon I am! *ahem* ~ GWOGOBO GWOBOBOBO!"

Right. So first we had a land shark, and now we have... a land Wailord?
I mean look at it, its body has the same shape as a Wailords! It's even got the striped underbelly to boot!
And aw man, it's just Level 50. What the heck was Charon thinking of doing with this thing?

TIME TO OPEN A CAN OF (non-fatal) WHOOP-booty!

THAT IS NOT THE DIRECTION I WANTED THE CAN TO BE OPENED IN!

One of its moves... is Scary Face. It lowers speed.
This legendary has a 25% chance of doing nothing but making sure you attack second.
Heatran is lame!

Aaaand now it's down to 1hp. Man, I love false swipe!

Err...
Looking back, I'm not sure WHY I sent him out.
I guess it must've been some sub-concious urge to see his get his booty handed to him by a Legendary!

...
Heatran is really lame!

I really with I could do more about catching Pokemon than just False Swipe, Sing, Dusk Ball. It's getting really repetitive now.

...okay, that's new!

Holy crap that was strong! I mean, Lava Plume was a special attack that did that much damage, AND a burn!
Good thing Sing actually worked this time! I really should've taught one of my Pokemon Yawn, it has a 100% chance!

Now comes the part where I befriend it by repeatedly hitting it with my balls!

I am smacking it with my balls while it's sleeping!
Okay, fine, no more ball jokes!

Metal Sound? OH COME ON, it's a flipping Level21 Lickitung! You could beat it by just breathing on it!

I do give Roosevelt a Max Potion though.
Actually, I think in the entire game, this is the first time I've specifically needed a Max Potion instead of a Hyper Potion (which only heals 200 points).

Heatran.
Lame.
Direct correlation.

Today is a good day I think for successful Sleep attacks!

Pity the same can't be said about actually getting a successful capture. I'll be here all day folks!

Summary: He woke up, whacked Roosevelt, so now I'm switching back to Tastebud while I heal her again.

Summary: Tastebud didn't die.

Seriously, this is really lucky for me!

Well FINALLY! MAN that took a while!
Of course, not as long as Giratina. I still can't believe he actually Struggled himself to death before I could actually make a successful catch!

It's... it's a self-damaging Pokemon.
So very very lame...
Oh, and if anyone's wondering "Why Steel", it's a reference to how the Earth's inner core is made of solid metal under immense pressure.

Well he is spicey...
And "Lickitung Lover" was too long.
Seriously though, how DID Tastebud manage to survive the entire fight without being hit once?! That was ridiculously uncanny!

And now I'm TRULY finished with this blasted volcano!
Y'know, it would've sucked if I had lost. Not because of missing my chance at a Legendary, but because he'd be back in one week's time - and then I'd feel the overwhelming urge to try catch him again! Curse my gaming nature!

This item has perhaps been the most useful item I've ever used. Save, maybe, for the Black Flute.
Master Balls come in somewhere further down the line.

Wait, hang on, if I just caught Heatran... and Heatran controls the volcano...
Ah, I don't really have anything to blackmail out of the local guys anyway. I mean, I just find all the good items for free off the ground. Heck, I even found a free villa somehow!
...although I do have an urge to use it to somehow create more land. Hmm.....

Aaaaand I have now seen as many Pokemon as there are in the Generation 2 games! I consider that to be something of an achievement... for some reason.
Umm...
Wootinary!

And now I am in somewhere completely different altogether.
Anyone spot what I'm doing here?

That's right, hunting for roaming Legendaries! I haven't actually met any in wild grass so far, so I decided I might as well come to the point where they'll come to me... if that makes sense.
This town is the best place in the game for looking for Legendaries because it's very quick to get to the routes above and below as well as being in the middle of the map.
It's also the best place for egg-hatching, thanks to a completely non-interrupted stretch of tiles! Nifty, huh?

Alright, first roaming legendary of the day!
I explained my plan before, right? I'm just trying to catch Cresselia alone, with a master ball. Because I do NOT have the Pokemon setup I'd like to have to make capturing them an easy one! Plus, the others are all boring Trio ones.

Wut? GODDAMNIT ROSELIA, WHY AM I TRACKING YOU?!

Theeere we go!
Although in all honesty, I'm not sure that this is actually any better.

Oh yeah, did I mention why Roaming Pokemon are such basts to actually catch? Because they ALWAYS run away! Your best bet if you want to catch them is to get a Spinarak with Web Shot (prevents the opponent from fleeing) and equip it with Quick Claw (has a 1/8 [or so] chance of going first), then wailing on it after!

Okay, see, THAT'S a Pokemon worth tracking! Man, if I knew this guy was here I totally would've gone for him over Porygon!

*fanfare*

"Hey, how do you sharpen blades?"
"Durr... have you tried hitting them against something hard?"

C'mon, don't tell me you didn't think of this too.

IT'S ZAPDOS!
AGAIN!

I think he remembers me.

Even when Legendary Hunting, I still come across these bastards!

Wait what?
Sorry, I didn't take any screenshots because this was completely unexpected! I just threw the ball on the very small chance of it actually working, I didn't think it would!

And now you know who to blame for the existence of Emos!

Well it was a lucky capture, after all!

About time already! I mean, I captured two rare Pokemon in the time I was taking for this thing to actually appear! What, is Cresselia the Legendary form of Slowpoke or something?

OMIGOSH OMIGOSH OMIGOSH I HOPE THIS WORKS GUYS!!!

Masterballs - no matter how much time it saves, no matter whether or not you would've actually bothered to catch the Pokemon without it, you always, ALWAYS, feel a deep feeling of wussification for using it!

Also known as: explosive diarrhoea!

Oh ho I'm so clever!

IT'S A MOLT-
Alright, nobody cares anymore, I got what I came for.

So the moment you've all been waiting for (and by "all" I mean "the game"), I am finally going to the Battle Frontier!

Aaaand we're off to a very creepy start!
DON'T LOOK AT ME!

So, Battle Frontier: to summarise, it's divided up into five different types of challenges. Winning a challenge nets you BP, which you can use to buy rarer items (including REALLY good deals on stat items!). And most of the challenges have a Doubles option. The five challenges are:
-Battle Tower: Fight through seven opponents in a row with three Pokemon each. Healing between matches, but you can't use any items not equipped to your Pokemon. This is the only challenge that gives you ribbons for certain accomplishments.
-Battle Factory: Same as Battle Tower, only using rented Pokemon this time (you choose three out of six). Before a match, a scientist will tell you what Pokemon the opponent has, and you can trade one Pokemon on your team for one of your opponents when you beat them.
-Battle Arcade: Same as Battle Tower, but without equipped items, and with events (rain, poison, paralysis, etc) that are decided by... some sort... of game board beforehand. I don't know, I haven't tried any of these events before!
-Battle Castle: This one doesn't have healing in between rounds. Rather, you buy items yourself using CP (yes, a THIRD currency), but you can also buy info on the next trainer or make them a lower level.
-Battle Hall: A one-on-one match with 10 battles instead of 7. And you get to choose your opponent's type beforehand! Buuut every time you beat a type, the subsequent Pokemon of that type is made stronger!
So yeah, thanks to Bulbapedia for that! Like I said, I haven't tried any of them at all yet!

So... umm... stalls?
This doesn't really look very battle-y.
Also, those statues look sorta like a side-view of Magnezone facing upwards!
....well I think it does anyway.
..Shutup!

Oh yay, a map!
...a completely unlabelled map!
God, this map is even more useless than the one for Cricket Mole Hole! What is it with this game and maps that don't make sense?

So I decided to do Battle Factory first! Because I love Rental Pokemon!
"What's that? A Smeargle that knows Foresight and Sheer Cold? FUCK YES POKEMON-BATTLE-REVOLUTION YOU HAVE THE BEST BOSS FIGHTS EVER!"
...pity that I never got to use it on account of Smeargle's craptacular stats. A two turn OHKO isn't so useful when the Pokemon using it can die in one.

This... isn't very factory-like.
I am disappointed.

Yesh, I can choose whether to play with Level 50 or Level 100 Pokemon here.
Normally, Open Level is where your Pokemon is whatever level it is now, and your opponent is (IIRC) the level of your highest-level Pokemon. But because it's all rental, it means everyone's level 100.
I go with the latter, because MASSIVE DAMAGE!

Ooh, Politoed, I don't think we've seen him so far in this LP!

I go with these three. The other choices were Vespiqueen (without her awesome bee attacks), Pinsir, and... something else pretty rubbish.

Err... no?
I'm sure I could think up of a witty comment, but I'm just too confused!

So first match of the Battle Frontier, woo!
Yeah, I didn't choose Flygon just for his stats, that Roost move is going to be a HUGE benefit in a match where you can't heal!

......I completely forgot about the fact that most water Pokemon can use ice moves, didn't I?

FFFFFFFFFFUCK YOU, 4x WEAKNESSES!

So this is really not off to a good start here.

Heh, man, I love using Attract! Makes the opponent fail to attack 50% of the time!
I still think this should be a move that Ditto knows, on account of... y'know...

As it turns out, Vaporeon is a heartless bastard!

IT'S RAPE TIME!

This is so very very wrong.

Vaporeon was coated in an acidic substance!
Which is actually very bad for me. Normally, Acid Armour is a real pain-in-the-booty to fight against, and even though it's a Hypno, his only attack is a physical one!

Woop, nevermind!
So yeah, I may have lost 2/3 of my team already, and my Hypno is 100 HP down, but at least I got rid of a Vaporeon!

Welp, Imma gonner.
Incidentally, how the heck does Hyper Voice work anyway? I mean, you'd think it works by being really really painful to your ears, and Soundproof Pokemon are immune to it... but it doesn't wake the opponent up at all! What, are all Pokemon really heavy sleepers or something?

Aaaand Hypno killed himself from an off-screen confusion attack!
So yeah, my entire accomplishment in this tournament was KOing one single Pokemon. Out of 21.
GG.

....what, that's the reason you think Pokemon Battles are like the weather?!
Also, I'm pretty sure the Battle Frontier is the only place where you get a post-match comment when you lose! Although I could be wrong on that. I mean, I simply don't lose enough to know for sure!
...what?

Err... sure, why not?
Basically, this just lets you watch your last battle over again. Y'know, as if your humiliation wasn't bad enough on its own!

Welp, that was short! Best to get back on the road, I still have a Shayamin to get, after all!
Huh? Oh, I'm not done with the Battle Frontier, just for now. Since my Pokemon aren't even all Level 50 yet, I still need a bit more training. I think I'll come back here... two more times!
So woo, voting time! I know it'll be a few episodes away, but I might as well do it now: which competition do you want me to do next?
The vanilla competition, Battle Tower?
The random event matches, Battle Arcade?
The DIY league, Battle Castle?
Or the one-on-one *noun*, Battle Hall?
I'll leave the ballot open until I come back here for the third time, so feel free to pitch in your own opinion even if you're reading a couple of episodes behind. I'll keep a tally on the front post!

Hey guys, just so you know, I've actually just finished Platinum once and for all today. Which means that I'll be finally getting back to, and finishing, the LetsPlay... soon.
I won't actually be posting any new episodes until I've written up a few first, so that it won't be another case of me ending up making one episode and then leaving it again.
I did plan on having the whole thing done by the time HG/SS came out here, but I then realised that there was way more to do than I thought! ...again!
Also, like I said elsewhere, I won't actually be doing a HG LetsPlay as I originally planned. ...well, I might later on, but only MUCH later on.
