Smash Run is really the best way. I tend to run around and look for chests and fight some of the tougher enemies that have a higher chance of dropping items. Play as the character whose custom moves you want in order increase the likelihood of getting their moves, and try to get first place, which nets you rarer items. Additionally, Trophy Rush often gives you custom moves. Again, it helps to play as the character whose custom moves you want.

Classic on any difficulty above 5.0
Hit the home menu during the roulette. It'll pause it, and you can see what's coming up. Do this until you have what you want lined up, and hold A while closing the home menu.
Pretty easy to get 5-6 custom parts that way.

There's a bug with the KO Punch where Little Mac's glove still does damage even after the initial punch

Fuuuuuuck you, game. How many more times do I have to play Smash Run as Alph before you decide to let me have his last custom move?

That is too good.
But why do we get two arrangements of Snowman (presuming Brawl ver. is returning, since a lot of Brawl remixes have come back) instead of having the actual Winters theme in this medley?

smash patch is out, and now Luma has to stay in time out longer after he gets KOd AND can't attack when Rosalina is grabbed now. What did they do to deserve this fate

Apparently they were considered in need of nerfing?
I don't think it's that bad.
Then again I don't use Rosalina and Luma very often.

I guess they also got rid of Wario's mystical vectoring powers which is good because that was ridiculous

you mean hilarious
Ike apparently got buffs, maybe he won't be total garbage now. Ness feels the same as ever but his downthrow deals 2% less damage, how is that even supposed to be a nerf when the only time you'll use the move is when you're fishing for followups to deal even more damage

Apparently Bowser also may or may not kill himself first now when suicide-grabbing, it seems inconsistent
EDIT: Apparently you can also break it or something?

^ have fun spending the rest of eternity looking for the last 10 hats.
As far as the update goes, I played as Pacman and it seems like his fire hydrant can take more damage?
