Re: Super Smash Bros
Playing online suddenly isn't fun anymore when I keep having to fight impossibly good players. I seriously don't have the time or patience to learn to play at that level.

Re: Super Smash Bros
Well if you want to get good you'll have to git gud, no way around it. Pick a character, learn the way they move, their normals, their specials, their air attacks, all of that. Every character has at least one or two really good knockout moves, Link's second swing off his forward smash, Jigglypuff's side B, Megaman's fucking radical tilt up Shoryuken. Try to create an opportunity for your knockout blow, build up to it.
And holy shit, is it just me or is the Reset Bomb Forest the worst thing ever?

I know how to play, I just cannot get these moves to register or connect when they should, I swear to fucking god. I can have someone directly in front of me, not blocking or anything, and not hit a daisies thing.

A lot. Barring that, learn to lose. Learn to enjoy losing. Instead of thinking "fuck I lost", think "well at least I made this or that nice play" or "hey at least I figured out X or Y or how to deal with Z".
I'm pretty daisies competitive but I don't usually mind losing in a game unless I feel I played worse than usual. As long as I feel like I'm learning/improving I enjoy it.

Just do what I do and main Ganon, land 5 good shots and you win, then side-B both of you off the ledge to reset your HP while keeping your lead.Marcato wrote:I know how to play, I just cannot get these moves to register or connect when they should, I swear to fucking god. Or use Olimar, and throw pikmin to deal some damage, and then smash them with a purple pikminBoler wrote:Just do what I do and main Ganon, land 5 good shots and you win, then side-B both of you off the ledge to reset your HP while keeping your lead.Marcato wrote:I know how to play, I just cannot get these moves to register or connect when they should, I swear to fucking god. Re: Super Smash Bros
So I went into 1v1 For Glory, did some fights, then got this guy who started with Robin. He beat my G-dorf AND my Little Mac, so then I went Ike which is about the time they switched to either Tiki or Sumia!Lucina. Tried G-dorf, lost. Tried Mac, lost. Then Ike. And Ike. And Ike. And Marth. Still kept losing.
But then......
ROBIN

I actually started winning by picking the character they started with and I had little to no practice with. After a while of getting tired of shield breaks I swore I should've avoided, I went to Nowi!Lucina... and I won. Several times, even.
"Yeah! Don’t even think of messing with Nowi!"
On another note, most of the players I've fought in For Glory are pretty nice/fair. Like, a few times I've died within the first 30 seconds for something stupid (like not grabbing a ledge I should've easily grabbed, or having a Little Maccident -- that is, Side-B'ing towards the edge just one step too far to land on the stage). In those cases, some lovely people have self-destructed to make it an even 1-stock battle instead of the 2. I do it, too. There is no glory in an unfair victory. This isn't For Tryhard.
