Honestly, I never cared much for Meta Knight. I could never get any of his moves right, and even when I did it wasn't all that great.

I used to be able to do meta knight's infinite cape when I used to play Smash.

With Meta you have to put more time and effort in to get your KOs - especially with items off.

His Smash Attacks are all hella weak (in fact it's sometimes better to KO with his tilts) - I try to score KOs with his Up-B a lot of the time, but even that is a no-guarantee move.

Metaknight can't kill at a reasonable %, there are a handful of characters that get shut down by metaknight, captain falcon for instance, because he has no priority, others are bad match ups but I don't really see any sense in banning him.

He has everything. Priority, speed, combos (!), excellent recovery and edgeguard, he can survive for a long time, rack up damage very fast and defend the edge all while staying mostly safe due to the speed of his moves. Saying he doesn't have good killing moves isn't quite right, his forward and down smashes, his neutral aerial attack, and his Up B and glide attack are good killing moves (down smash and Up B are verrrry fast, too). He does lack a Meteor Smash and a projectile, but that would just be overkill at that point.
His only 'weaknesses' are his light weight (which can be overcome if you know how to use Directional Influence and Momentum Cancelling), his lack of early killing moves (which can be overcome by simply racking up more damage, something he's excellent at, or by edgeguarding effectively, something he's also very good at), and the fact that he can be combo'd easily after a throw (provided the opponent can get a grab, a difficult task against such a mobile character).

I don't like him being banned in some tourneys, but he's been dominating competitive play since the beginning of Brawl's lifespan, so it's not a surprise to see people growing tired of having to face MK players very often.

Yeah, I never cared for MK.
It's funny though, no matter what came I play, whether it is Pokemon, Brawl, Street Fighter, Mario Kart, what ever the characters that I have the most fun with, use the most, and am the best with always just happen to be bottom tier people. It always works out that way, and I don't know why.

I have more fun playing with Captain Falcon, constantly SDing and getting that one occasional super-sweet game-winning FALCON PAWNCH than constantly winning with Meta Knight.

PANK Captain Falcon: your comedy value knows no limits.

I used to main captain falcon back in melee, but they nerfed him pretty drastically, he kinda needed it but not the extent they did it.
He still plays the same so I still use him, I just have to work a lot harder than I would with anyone else.

Also I've found facing meta knight, or anyone really, defensively. I block and dodge constantly, waiting for openings to grab attack whatever. I will say that it is probably the hardest to do this against metaknight, but any character with a solid projectile can usually get in pretty easily on meta knight, even when I'm kirby, he has some range and attacks that get through metaknights crazy speed. I'm not so much arguing that he's really good, he is definitely near the top, I can only imagine how powerful he was in beta before they nerfed him, I'm more trying to say banning him isn't really warranted even though it doesn't really affect me in the slightest; he just has too many match ups in his favor.

I don't think banning him is warranted, but it's understandable.
Oh and Mach Tornado eats most projectiles for free, apart from the really big ones.

That, that is true. The only reason I can think why it would have as much priority is because it's technically a recovery.

It's also one of his greatest attack moves :D It inflicts a lot of damage, goes far and has good priority.

Can someone tell he how to best counter Mach Tornado? I never figured it out, due to my friends not playing him and the AI rarely using it. I main Wario.

Let it eat your shield and try to punish it at the end of the move while MK is helpless. Try out your farther-reaching moves, or your dash attack. Maybe a short jump with a nice aerial. It's not too easy to do.

Like I said I'm usually really defensive, I can usually dodge most of it. You don't want to be in the air if you think they're going to use it, air dodge doesn't last long enough/go far enough to be practical against it, so just try not to come down on meta knight, he's really good at keeping people at bay in the air. Stick to the ground and hit them when tornado stops, he's pretty open after it.

The problem is that Wario's main strength is aerial combat, so I'm very used to playing in the air with him.

But thanks for the tips guys.
