So weird to think about
10 years, wow, I actually remember this coming out and having to ask my parents if I could play it because *gasp* it was rated T. Its good to know that something besides mario and LoZ games keep people playing years after.I know they were all made by nintendo and that SSBM has BOTH Mario and LoZ characters in it.

Is it better than brawl?

Brawl has more characters, more music, more bonuses, and a story mode, but I think Melee is way better.

Brawl dumbed the game down in a lot of peoples eyes. I didn't notice personally, but I never played it to an especially competitive degree. I did however notice that the combat was slower, and to a fairly significant degree (slower fall speeds, slower flight speeds, slower movement speeds etc.)

The one and only thing I dont like about brawl is the nerfed homerun bat. Me and my bro used to have homerun bat battles, and it was hilarious.

Oh yea, this reminds me of another story: Me and my bro were playing all pokeballs match, and after a while, every single pokemon we got was a munchlax. Cue 10 munchlaxes on the screen at the same time :psyduck:

Well, Brawl also made it too easy to unlock all the characters. (Just beat the story mode and BAM YOU BEAT THE GAME) I didn't unlock all of Melee's characters until AFTER Brawl came out. (You have to play TWENTY HOURS of Melees to unlock Mewtwo. Took a while to get the "leave game on overnight" trick under the radar of my parents.)

i thought it was 20 hours of melee to unlock G&W. either way, who the fuck came up with that one?

It seems like Pokeballs got nerfed to me. Nothing good ever comes out, only Munchlax, Gardevoir, and Wobbys EVERYWHERE.

20 hours for Mewtwo, beat All-Star after unlocking everyone else for G&W. (I think thats how G&W works...)

No, it's beat Classic/Adventure with every character besides G&W to unlock him. Then you unlock All-Star.

If I remember correctly, there were two methods for unlocking every character.
