It's only like 14 bucks now so if you have the cheddar I suggest you go ahead and get it, for one the pc version has a fast forward option during battle and you can set the game to automatically hitting those QTE's in battle. Not mention they added a shit ton of new content.Alec wrote:TLR was the glitchiest piece of shit I ever played on a PS3, complete with textures popping in five-ten seconds after the objects themselves loaded. It felt unfinished, ally equipment management was absent, and...just...christ that game had a lot of issues.
And god it was fun.
I really want to get the improved PC version, now.

Aaaaa
How did I miss this thread?! RPGs are pretty much my number one gaming interest.

The only thing I know about Etrian Odyssey is a weird F.O.E. song on YouTube. Don't know how relevant it is.Game Angel wrote:Oh, I remember getting Etrian Odyssey without knowing what I was getting into.
Never again

Somehow I'm enjoying the 2nd Torchlight less than the original. The classes seem to offer less diversity within a single spec.
Re: The grand thread of RPGs-So whats the deal with orcs?
I just couldn't get into Torchlight II. Not sure why. (Well, server problems making it annoying to play, but that's often something I forgive. For some reason.)
If you're looking for something similar, Path of Exile's pretty fun. And free. And offers crazy character customization.

I'll probably start Radiant Historia once I finish Hotel Dusk. I mostly picked it because it had good scores and apparently it's "for people who take their JRPGs seriously" and I'm a JRPG newbie so I'll probably get my booty handed to me.

My dad got Mass Effect 3, and I've been playing it a couple of evenings. I chose Adept so heck yeah future space magic
I've heard bad things about the ending, but it can't be as disappointing as Fallout 3's ending (sans DLC)...right?

Save yourself while you still can Angie.
They are pretty bad but they kinda softened the blow a little bit with the extended endings. They're still bad but it's the best we're going to get.
This is what happens when the lead story writer (I think that's who did it anyway) writes the ending without consulting the rest of the team.

That's a shame.
I think I'll still play it though, but I'll remember that once the ending rolls around. If I ever get that far lol

I didn't get too far into Valkyria Chronicles because oops Okami HD.
But I noticed it had some DLC, should I bother with them or are they nothing special?

Yeah, you should definitely continue to play it.Game Angel wrote:That's a shame.

The endings may be bad but everything else is good. It's just those last few minutes that turned sour.

I tried playing Aleshar: The World of Ice or something which is some abandon-ware game from a ways back but I didn't get it working
Re: The grand thread of RPGs-So whats the deal with orcs?
From everything my friends have said, the ending is FAR worse than Fallout 3's. Though for what it's worth, they've also said that everything up until the last 10 minutes is absolutely fantastic.Game Angel wrote:My dad got Mass Effect 3, and I've been playing it a couple of evenings. Re: The grand thread of RPGs-I payed for my gear, noob.
maybe i'll just stop near the end and make up my own ending lmao

Re: The grand thread of RPGs-I payed for my gear, noob.
Radiant Historia is pretty damn neat so far.

Can you give a pro/con list? I haven't played a DS game in quite some time. Wouldn't be opposed to starting one up.
Come to think of it, the last DS game I played was Dragon Quest IX. Which was alright--but I'm pretty sure after they came up with their script they fed it to a robot that replaced all forms of tension and/or emotion with puns.
