Like, they weren't even hard to see, but some of them were total BS, like the one that put up walls around you and you had to jump out fast enough or you would die from poison.
I also like that sometimes it was so dark you needed night eye or something with its effect.

Any part in a game where I die if I don't do something within a given time limit.

A time limit sucks all the fun out of it.

You can use torches, always carry a couple because they're weightless.

But a time-limit can be used as a really great dramatic tool, like the end segments of every Metroid game.

Okay, maybe time limits work better in some games than others.

I can still recall a few games I've played where the time limits have sucked a lot of the fun out of play.

Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter. You got those nice strong Dragon Powers but also have a counter in the corner counting up to 100% slowly by time and much faster every time you use your powers. Game over if it reaches 100%, no way to lower it at all.

Most games have quite generous time limits anyway.

There's one part in the first level of Bioshock where you can get a Tonic from a cabinet directly in the corner of the room, and after you pick it up, you turn around and there's a Splicer directly behind you, just standing there.

It gets me EVERY TIME, even when I know it's coming.

Reminds me of the part where you pick up the shotgun, but I loved that.

Oh geez, that was terrifying too.

Just that whole first level, man.

Gaa.....

Neptune's Bounty was much manageable up until Rosebud shows up.

I hate platforming over bottomless pits. I'm not afraid of heights or anything. It's just, when you have a difficult platforming segment over a bottomless pit, I intinctively think "I must be perfect; zero mistakes" and then I just freeze up and fail. I can play more loosely when I have a floor under me.

So, related to the above, every "Secret" level in Super Mario Sunshine.

And unrelated to the above, the Silent Realms in Skyward Sword.

just gonna drop my opinion here, but the "secret" levels of mario sunshine were a lot of the best parts of that game imo

except the pachinko one. that one sucks.
