No, not really. The characters respawn and the "kills" are called "K.O.'s". I don't think falling off the stage is lethal.
But then again I am one of those people who over-think things. When I play a kirby game, I end up thinking about all those poor waddle dees. THEY WEREN'T EVEN DOING ANYTHING THEY WERE JUST WALKING FORWARD BUT NO KIRBY HAS TO BE ALL LIKE "I KILL AND EAT YOU ALL NOW, KAY?"
Edit: Hell, you know what? That's a pretty good comic idea right there.

I agree- the Pokemon who aren't actually Brawlers (like the ones from the Pokeballs) won't respawn, so they're dead forever...
...Wait, what happens to a Pokemon trapped in a Pokeball when it's destroyed? Is the Pokemon released automatically? And what about Pokeballs where they aren't destroyed, but it's physically impossible for them to open? (Like, say, two meters below the ground covered in dirt).

Yeah. The Waddle Dee's and DeDeDe sitting around telling stories of the monstrous bottomless beast that consumes all in its path. Sending the strongest warriors just makes it stronger, and it can never be swayed or stopped.

because it was sadly amusing after it happened.
We were running the new ICC 5 man instances. We were all kinda under geared and I was still working out being a pally healer. However, one of our party members was a well geared undead rogue. With the extra dps we were getting through instances fairly quickly and easily.....until we had to run away from Arthas. Then the rogue thought it would be fun to sprint up the path and got past where the first wall formed. He couldn't get back to us and we couldn't dps the mobs fast enough before Arthas came up and punched us all in the face and we wiped.
