You can only really be born a Jew, so I guess it's a race

Although you can convert to the Jewish church, it takes 2 or so years.

I think semite is the term for what people identify as the Jewish stereotype - that race itself, of people with Jewish heritage. I'm not sure if Katie was born jewish, or if her father converted, or if her grandparents were.

You can become Jewish. But you have to be serious, willing to work very hard and prepared to study. A lot. I don't know what other factors there are, but there are a lot of them. My friend's mom had actually converted to Judaism and even though it was a grueling process.

And no, it's a belief, not a race.
