Yep.

I don't even think he has the upper-arm strength to carry that thing. I don't think he jumped the shark as a were-thing(I've read articles about it, the game seems interesting), but rather when he got that god-dawmned sword.

Put him in a battle against Link and tell me who wins.

I meant in Brawl. I wasn't going to suggest a crossover as stupid as that.

Okay, misunderstood you there. Thought you meant something like "Who's the better character". Probably because Sonic doesn't have the sword in Brawl, but I'm just nitpicking now.
