Idea #1 'Ridley Me This'

Premise:
How is it Ridley keeps coming back from the dead anyway? (Space Pirates, Metroid)

Comic:
Two Space Pirates are watching Ridley being briefed on a mission by a Space Pirate Commander.

Pirate #1 asks the other: 'So is this the same Ridley that we thought we'd lost in our last encounter with "the hunter"?' (possibly doing inverted commas with his fingers).

Pirate #2 responds: 'Well, when his battleship joined our armada and I welcomed him aboard, this one introduced himself as "Ridley Jr. Jr. Esq. the 4th".'

Pirate #1 interjects: 'Ah, it must be a common name among his kind. I've heard they take great pride in their family history.'

Pirate #2 responds: 'You have no idea.' (facepalming/massaging his brow with the fingers of one hand).

Pirate #1 enquires: 'Oh?'

Pirate #2 responds: 'While this Ridley was embarking - he pounced on the opportunity to introduce me to the 'Ridley family tree.'

Pirate #2 continues: 'I just hope, for the commander's sake, that he doesn't bring out his pocket holo-album...' (pausing).

Pirate #2 points over to Ridley and the commander.

Pirate #2 states: 'Too late.'

Ridley Jr. Jr. Esq. the 4th: '...my uncle 'Ridley of the Black Sun', my auntie 'Madame Ridley of Antimon 5', my brother 'Ridley the Younger...' (you could add more Ridley family members if you wish).

Punchline:

Ridley Jr. Jr. Esq. the 4th: '...and my sister "Trevor.".'

Idea #2 'Charzilla'

Premise:
What goes on inside them there Pokeballs? (SSBB cast)

Comic:
PT retrieves one of his Pokemon (probably Squirtle) - returning it into his Pokeball: 'Squirtle - return!'

Another SSBB cast member (anyone you like - preferably Captain Falcon) asks PT: 'So what goes on in them there Pokeball dohickeys anyways?'

PT holding the Pokeball in his hands: 'I'm not sure, but I've been told the Pokeball generates a virtual environment based on the contained Pokemon's needs/desires.'

PT holds the Pokeball up to his face - scrutinising it closely with one eye: 'I can only imagine what they get up to in these things though.'

Imaginary image of Squirtle in a recreational water funpark (aquaslides etc.). PT: 'I'd imagine Squirtle would have some kind of water-park thing to keep it entertained.'

Imaginary picture of Ivysaur asleep in a lushious tropical garden. PT: 'Ivysaur would probably be taking it easy in a garden of some sort.'

Punchline:

Imaginary picture of a gigantic Godzilla-esque Charizard rampaging through a city - devouring innocent people, setting flames, knocking aircraft out of the sky, knocking down buildings, with people running away screaming 'Aaaaah it's Charzillla!'. PT: 'Now Charizard... actually, I daren't think what Charizard would get up to.'

I have an idea for about Captain Falcon's career history too, but I'll work that up another time.

If Katie doesn't do these comics I might put them together myself sometime. But I really don't have the time to draw comic stuff like this.

Now ask yourself a question: does that have anything at all to do with Charizard other than that he's some sort of firey dragon thing?

I prefer the comics which add something a little oddball to the world of games we think we know all about.

What's worse is that you're giving out to the audiance for not getting a readily accessable joke. I mean, when that happens what you're supposed to do is admit that the joke was either really poorly conveyed or just wasn't funny, not insult the people you're joking with!

So you know, it was both. Aside from that "a family of same-named guys, with no indication of gender, has an oddly-named differently-named syster" is distinctly unfunny, you also had to make up "Ridley is actually different people every time" first, which is far odder than his sister's name!

I put together a comic script as best I could but I never intended that to be followed to the letter if anybody actually went ahead and arted it.

I just expanded the idea to such a degree because I find it annoying when people demand 'Megaman comic! NOW!' and offer no idea for a joke whatsoever.

I think I misjuged the level of humour I imparted with those ideas in relation to the audience here. I guess Katie has a better understanding of making her comics' humour accessible to a web audience. (BTW - the 'That's the fucking joke you retards!' was also designed to raise a laugh).

Based on this image I found:



You know the old story/myth about people's pets taking on the appearance of their owners?

Apply that to some familiar videogame characters and some Pokemon which vaguely resemble them (I'll leave you or some of our AZ members to come up with these - you could 'borrow' the Linebeck/Luxio idea as a starting point).

The punchline could turn that on its head - rather than the Pokemon taking on the appearance of the owner, the owner takes on the appearance of the Pokemon.

Hopefully this idea doesn't butthurt anybody.

Maybe some AZ members could contribute some Pokemon/game character lookalikes (if only close approximations).
