Demisexuality goes a bit deeper than that, but it's harder to explain, exactly. Basically, a demisexual feels NO sexual attraction to someone until they get close. You could maybe say that their libido is entirely based on their emotional connection to someone, and that's their kink, if you will.

That doesn't mean "Oh, I'm such a gentleman/lady that I don't go out and fuck everyone in the city, I wait for the one", it just means they really don't even conceive of sex being in their ballpark of interest until it sparks up.

There are people who misuse the term to gain sympathy or to show how much self-control they have, but if they're controlling their urges and libido, they aren't demisexuals, they're just idiots or assholes. No different from the girls who are bisexuals but would never do anything romantic or sexual with a female.

That could also be explained through the "matinee/mermaid" theory from How I Met Your Mother. You know someone, but you don't feel sexually attracted to them until BAMwoahwhendidyougetsuddenlyattractive?!
