Keergerniplex is a brilliant name though. It's hilarious.
Also, I fucking called it.
I told you guys we'd have a pornbot that posts pictures but none of you believed me.

Re: Too Late to Report the Bot
The problem is that we've had this day-after-day, 24/7 stream of them. While they are not filling up the board indexes like they used to, this is getting quite tiresome. How detrimental would it be to lock down registration until the problem gets a solution? I am legitimately asking as to what kind of harm this could cause the forum, aside from the lack of new members.
Burn 'em to shreds, tear 'em to ashes.
Re: Too Late to Report the Bot
The bots are just a mild nuisance. It's up to Katie if she wants to lock registration but I think she should just get around to updating instead.
Re: Too Late to Report the Bot
And just as I finished writing up a hilarious (or at least I thought it was) joke report, someone else had already reported the post.
Maybe next time.
Maybe next time.

Because its not something proletariats can do, only she can. If you ever want to ask her something about the forum, talk to her on AIM.BurntToShreds wrote:The problem is that we've had this day-after-day, 24/7 stream of them. Re: Too Late to Report the Bot
Can't Katie download a SCP plugin which auto-filters bots?
I don't know if you guys (proletariats) have that level of administrative control over the site so I might be barking up the wrong tree here - and I don't know if those things are any good in the long run, but I do know they need the site administrator to tell them what SCP posts 'look like' so the SCP plugin 'learns' what to look for and auto-blocks/deletes/buffers them.
What I'm saying is that you guys (proletariats) deleting the bots isn't going to be any kind of long-term solution in stopping bots popping up. If you guys (proletariats) don't have the clearance to implement a SCP plugin (or equivalent) Katie is going to have to look into downloading some kind of SCP thing for the site and she's going to need to find the time to manage it (at least until it 'learns' how to be an effective filter on its own).
Of course I wonder if Katie really even gives two fucks about the forum considering she rarely ever posts here anyway.

Re: Too Late to Report the Bot
She's just busy. I talked to her about it and she needs to find time to sit down and back things up before upgrading the forum, and presumably installing SCP protection at the same time.
She's a college student (with an engineering job if I'm not mistaken?) so what free time she does have is probably consumed by drawing AZ, working on the book, and the ever-present goofing off that everyone needs. Getting rid of spambots that post once each in Russian isn't really much of a priority, unless people are clicking on the links like dumbasses.
For the short term, removing them as they come may not be the best solution, but it's the one we've got.
Seriously, it takes more work from us to remove the spam than it does for anyone else to either ignore it or report it, since we not only have to remove the posts, but also ban the same bot at least twice (username, IP) Removing posts takes a while, too for some reason, but that's why tabs were invented.
