Re: Heroes, Epics, and all around awesome.
I picked Runaways up because I really liked the cover art, haha.
Runaways iiiiiiiiis interesting. It has a ton of pop culture thrown around in the dialogue (I think a TV Tropes term is "Whedonism" or something), but the characters are entertaining and the plot is wacky fun. I only got through the first arc - I had picked up the first graphic novel with the first seven issues, and then just bought the hardcover that had all thirty-something or whatever. I want to get back into it when I have the cheddar.
And no I have not read Separation Anxiety! I just went through C&D's wiki again, and apparently in '08 it was announced they'd have a five-issue mini-series, so I have to see if I can find that.
EDIT: omg

Joseph Loeb of Marvel Television reported at Comic-Con 2011 that Cloak and Dagger are in development as a television series for ABC Family. The duo will be relocated to a post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans.[61]

Do Kamen Rider's count?
Re: Heroes, Epics, and all around awesome.
Who would win in a fight?
Vladimir Putin?
Or
Theodore Roosevelt?
Facts:
Putin:
Once saved a camera crew from a tiger that had gotten loose by shooting it with a tranquilizer
Is a 6th degree black belt in Judo
Knows how to fly planes
Roosevelt:
Once got shot in the stomach while giving a speech. Finished the speech before seeking medical attention.
Champion boxer

Putin.
Roosevelt always had a few health problems, and assuming that it's hand-to-hand (Which I assume because otherwise Putin would have a technological advantage.), Putin would have an advantage thanks to years of training in martial arts.
That's my view on it, at least.

Other part to that speech story is after finishing it he tracked down his attacker and sent them the bullet.
They used him in Deadliest Warrior actually and he kicked Lawrence of Arabia's booty with a bowie knife.

So apparently Putin is also a sixth-dan in Kyokushin Kaikan karate.
This fight would be hella cool to see.

I want to see if there's more of them, but I haven't had any luck so far at stores. I might need to order online.
I love you, IF.

I can't help but think about Roosevelt v. Lawrence of Arabia as:
Roosevelt vs the TF2 Sniper.

Re: Heroes, Epics, and all around awesome.
Captain America is all right. I appreciate him as an icon and as an important figure in Marvel history, but he just never interested me. Because of this, it's highly possible I'm judging a very good book by its cover; I just don't see much of an appeal in a WWII military supersoldier who fights Nazis, gets frozen in suspended animation for a few decades, then is brought back for some reason where he continues to fight the Bad Dudes With Bad 'Tudes.
I don't see the personal motivation above, "I want to overcome my weakness" - which I believe he's proven time and again.
If there's a series that takes an in-depth look at Captain America as a person, I'd love to hear about it. I'm willing to try new things out and have my perceptions changed.
Also the whole "cryogenic freezing" thing seems a bit confusing - he was frozen then thawed, then frozen and thawed again? Or is this a case of retconning when he's thawed? Either way, is there anything that explores what he goes through with the whole time-skip drama? It's a commonly-done theme, but I like seeing how different authors interpret it.
