Open Task Manager
Go to "Processes"
Check for "SkypePM.exe"

IF you have SkypePM.exe, go to Control Panel -> Add or Remove programs (or Uninstall a program).
If you have "EasyBits Go" installed, then you need to follow the advice in this thread.

EVEN IF YOU DON'T SEE IT, IT COULD STILL BE THERE.

EasyBits Go is some -thing- that's going through Skype.

First, let's stop it getting into the system again.

In Skype go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced, and uncheck "Automatically enable Extras". Click "Manage other programs' access to Skype" and remove "easygobits"

Its kinda easy. Reboot your comp in safe mode. Go to the folder and delete it. Gone. Open Skype. Go to tools > Options > Advanced > Manage other programs' access to Skype. You will see easygobit. Remove it. I have started Skype 4 times in chat mode and that program is all gone. I hope that helps.

I solved the problem doing the following: (For XP)

1. Uninstalled EasyBits Go from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel
2. Deleted the Skype Plugin Manager folder from C:\Program Files\Skype
3. Deleted the EasyBits Go Folder from C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data

You may run into a "Cannot Delete" problem for steps 2 and 3. When I tried to delete the Easybits Folder, several times I was denied access. I found out later that it was because SkypePM.exe was accessing. (As you know you can't delete programs currently accessed in the computer's memory)

In summary, the root of the problem was SkypePM.exe

Lastly, TELL. YOUR. FRIENDS. Whatever this thing is, don't let it get into peoples' computers. MAKE PEOPLE AWARE. If it is some stupid extra thing that's bugged, I guess I overreacted like mad. If it's some virus thing then I guess it's pretty good I did flip a shit, right? Either way, get it out of your computers.

I checked and don't have it, but it seems like a lot of hullabaloo for something that seemingly does nothing.

It installs itself on your system without consent and requires you to pick it out of your system piece by piece. A skype moderator has said that it has nothing to do with Skype.

If that's not flying every single red flag, then I have no idea what you're doing.

Easybitsgo wasn't running in my active memory, but I found something called Easybits go in the SkypePM folder in C:/.

I guess it hadn't had a chance to 'activate' because I haven't activated Skype in yonks.

I deleted the SkypePM folder as outlined in one of those quotes.

I'm now in two minds about uninstalling Skype altogether because I never use it.

I spent pretty much the whole day reading about Easybits GO yesterday.
According to one of the Skype admins, it was their game manager and partner company Easybits GO's desktop manager that was not supposed to be downloaded.
They say it was in error, and that no data should be compromised (though I have myself also remoed Easybits GO from my computer) and they have now disabled the update in Skype to keep it from happening.
