today is the national day of silence. we are silent today to honor the one in four gays that choose to remain silent in there sexuality. it is my first year taking part in it and i have not said on word since 6:37 am, which is a considerable feat for me seeing as how i always instantly verbalize my thoughts.
so think of all the voices your not hearing today.

Never heard of it.
It isn't done here so I have not much reason to do so, really.

Wat. Why are you honoring people who don't have the guts to express their feelings. This just doesn't make sense. Although it does keep the kind of people who would stop talking for something like this quiet, so I guess I'm okay with this.

Also going on a forum is still talking.

This is so silly. Wouldn't it be more encouraging to tell gays to speak out and be proud?

I fight for free speech. Day of Silence is my Day of Yelling.

No.
Nononononono. This is not what it's about.
According to dayofsilence.org, this is what it is about.
INFO ABOUT THE DAY OF SILENCE
Sponsored by GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, the National Day of Silence is a day of action in which students across the country take some form of a vow of silence to call attention to the silencing effect of anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in schools. Through their activities students can speak out against harassment and organize for change for their schools and communities.

You speak out by not saying anything? Seems rather counter-productive.

That's what I always thought. If people don't like gay people, why would having them not talk make them change their minds?

They would have to use their mouths some other way.
Kissy kissy.

This sounds more useless than those facebook protests with CHANGE YOUR PROFILE PICTURE TO HERPADERP TO SUPPORT DERPADY DO.

I did this once in highschool
Than I realized it was pointless
Still was fun to attempt. We should just have a day of silence as a day of challenge rather then a protest that makes people think they're helping by doing nothing.
I mean, the gesture is sweet and all, but unless this is happening on a very grand scale and really brings attention to the issue at hand, it's not going to do much. Most successful protests usually involve actually voicing your opinion on the matter with a group.
