All I've ever seen the Day of Silence do is cause problems in classes. Teachers respect their right to be silent but at the same time, they get really angry.

a lot of my friends wore red duct tape on their mouths all of today
i think maybe 5-10 people overall did it in my school
didn't see anybody i didn't know passing by in the hallways with their mouths duct taped but uh idk some were doing it without the tape
it sucked because my friends usually have something funny to say and i had to be the funny one today
so i just kept making jokes about the whole "day of silence for gay people" thing

"day of walking around with your eyes closed for blind people"
"day of walking around on your knees for amputees"
"day of putting your fingers in your ears and going 'LALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU LALALALA' for hardcore conservatives" etc etc

People used to try and do this at school. Teachers weren't so supportive.

I dislike that some people who do it have this sense that they are better than everyone else because they care
It used to be a kind of large thing at my school a few years ago, but I only saw about three or four poeple doing it, and most of them were in United Students (The Gay Bi Lesbian Transgender Club) They were passing out ribbons and pins for it.
Pretty much everyone agrees the whole idea of it is stupid
